They should focus group how Ken Paxton's ex-wife's ad does with all of Ken Paxton's girlfriends.

I personally think that well run special committees could be a great precursor. The whole administration is grifters. Expose them one at a time in very public ways. Similarly, keep passing ethics reform with teeth for the SCOTUS, even if Trump keeps vetoing it.

I’m not sure why this is surprising. LLM/TNNs are built for gratification without friction. We’re already seeing them help convince people to do self destructive things. They thing to keep in mind is truthful information is optional. You can train an LLM to sell bad science as well.
010
Mighty Apollo @mightyapollo.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The fact that if you train an LLM on it’s own output the model collapses. That’s because hallucinations are inherent. What we are waiting for is a single LLM/TNN that does not inherently produce some bullshit regardless of how carefully it is trained.

Climate change has really helped make it a hitter’s park. There is also a lot less foul ground than there used to be (dugout club seating was added).

To be fair, this is pretty far from what most people experience as AI. It also can rapidly become unethical. It is one thing to use a tool to aid radiologists. It is another to pretend that the tool doesn’t inherently error (accuracy drops if you just take radiographs from a different machine)…

Mighty Apollo @mightyapollo.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
This doesn’t make them pet rocks or wholly imaginary friends. But human propensity for anthropomorphism and liking dopamine fixes from immediate gratification should be considered. That’s why there is such a big gap between glowing testimonials and measured impact on productivity when Ai is used./e

There has been a bunch of intensive specialized work (ex code world models), but they are still fundamentally plagiarize mash up machines. If someone thinks, oh my gosh, I couldn’t have written that code! It isn’t Claude being smarter, it is still basically copying a smarter person’s code./2

Mighty Apollo @mightyapollo.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
If we look at it scientifically, AI currently isn’t doing any of these things either. There is a reason AI companies are consuming rare books and firing people who use AI in training. If you feed the output back in, the models collapse. This is because hallucinations are inherent./1

LLM/TNN and related technologies do have useful purposes, they just haven’t demonstrated usefulness and applications that justify their huge costs. And I mean both that $3T+ shortfall that the recent Brookings study highlights and societal costs like destroying intellectual property rights.

Mighty Apollo @mightyapollo.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
This is leading to a lot of public humiliation in papers, conferences, even thesis defenses for researchers who start blindly trusting it. It also raises the question, where will a next generation of really good coders come from?/end

Mighty Apollo @mightyapollo.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
AI has gotten better at producing code that works, albeit still often really shitty code. That appears to mean that good programmers can delegate less critical tasks with more confidence, but it has encouraged bad programmers to just trust the output on their tasks./3

Mighty Apollo @mightyapollo.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The best studies last year showed that AI had a negative productivity effect (-27%) on experienced programmers and a boost for (30%) for remedial programmers. In the latest studies we see a modest (5-15%) boost for experienced programmers, but novices are slipping down into negative territory./2

Mighty Apollo @mightyapollo.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
No one says that automated plagiarism is not convenient for some tasks - and that is what coding with AI is. But if it is saving you a week, that either means you are either exceptionally bad at programming or are putting too much trust on output and undermining the quality of your work./1

NEW: Trump owned between $2.9 million and $9.5 million in investments in companies that owned, operated or provided infrastructure for data centers at the end of 2025, according to CREW analysis. Meanwhile, his admin promoted data centers—potentially padding his bottom line.

Most of us have a little ball in our brains where we can lock up the bad thoughts we know we should not have, let alone say. Trump’s ball has melted into sort of a skate board park. The worst thoughts can now get out, but they have to pick up a little speed first.

I can’t stand listening to him talk, but my partner loves her morning Today fix so we compromise. She mutes the TV any time he appears and we do a mystery science theatre type thing and invent stuff for him to say. One day she had Trump tell the story of “the little lemur who could” and it grew.😹

It’s kind of like watching a brain damaged lemur frantically dry hump a door knob. Part of you is grossed out and embarrassed that you are just standing there watching as the critter keeps slamming its tiny junk against the handle. The other part keeps watching, hoping it knocks itself unconscious.
