@kroger Gala apples just jumped from 1.69 to 2.19 per pound. That's 30%. Inflation would be 5 or 6%, generously, or 1.80. Putting it bluntly, your "everyday low price" label is bovine exhaust. "You've been gouged again" would be more accurate.

How do I know about this and why do I care? I lived there for 11 years. Had to walk past a No Trespassing sign to get to the beach access closest to my house. Greedy people will eventually eff up everything good, if we let them. <Rant Mode Off>

Classic case of killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Betcha the owners of private beach rental houses, of which there are 1000s, are getting complaints from their renters and seeing their occupancy fall.

Important backstory. The Walton County economy is utterly dependent on beach vacationers. Those who stay in beachfront condos have "their own" private beach. Those who stay in privately-owned beach rental houses, of which there are 1000s, have to drive to the limited public space.

This was going on almost the whole time I was there. It started with a certain former AR gov getting the state leg to extend his property line to the water. They literally had security to keep you from even walking on the beach. Disgusting.

Last night. My favorite takeout, pretty basic food, went up 18%. I'm not mad at them, it's a locally owned business. I'm sure they have held off passing on price increases from their suppliers as long as they could. We all know who's responsible. Tariffs and wars. Greedy corps. ATHTRIO.

After weeks of sitting in my living room watching dollar bills grow wings and fly to 245 S Main, I am proud to share that my AC stayed off from last night until just now. 12:45.

The old map didn't resolve to individual customers, but it had a useful color coding to show how bad it was at roughly the neighborhood level.

@mlgw.bsky.social Please bring back the former outage map. It was much more informative than the current one.

The new MLGW outage map stinks. Much less information. Anybody know if there's a backdoor way to see the old one?
