Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 21hDill is a “weed” in my garden that let it go wild. It reseeds SO much but I love it when it brings in these pals: swallowtail caterpillars! 030
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Native flowers still popping for early October! Bee balm, Black Eyed Susan’s, Obedient Plant 022

Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Omg that sounds SO good! I do something somewhat similar with ground turkey and green beans. Instead of gochujang, I make a simple Thai sauce with soy sauce, Thai chilis, garlic, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Lots of basil of course! I use basil since apparently it’s closer to holy basil’s flavor 100
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Had a Red Admiral butterfly come by! Only saw this guy one other time this year 010
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Hope you’re in a warm climate because it’s the end of the season for us in the Midwest 😅 100
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 08/10/2026It’s October 8th and the green bean harvest is still going crazzzzyyy. Have enough for my next meal and to also blanch, freeze for winter 3563
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 08/10/2026First blueberry from the garden!!! That probably means this plant is stressed since I planted like two weeks ago lol.. but still cool to have a blueberry form my backyard 040

Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Unfortunately I think mushrooms are a lot more complicated for that 😅. Maitakes are notorious for being very hard to cultivate. The oak tree has to either starting to die or dead, but the tree is still mostly intact. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Maitake grow from a stump 010
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Haha I do wonder about the protein content. It is extremely meaty so I bet it’s similar to the regular button mushroom? This mushroom seems like it would be hard to grow yourself since it has such specific requirements like oak trees and only during the fall 210
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Made some beef stroganoff with the Maitake mushrooms. The beef is the worst part of the dish believe it or not. Maitakes are so meaty themselves 041
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Went mushroom foraging today and I found SIX maittake mushrooms! Only grabbed ones maybe two 152
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Not me picking up my niece and her yard was filled with my favorite flower (Liatris) and… I just had to 161

Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Planted some native low bush blueberries, Vaccinium Angustifolium. eventually I’ll beautify this area a bit more but I wanted to get these in the ground before it starts getting colder 031
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I’m sick but we planted some more natives yesterday. New Jersey Tea, Clematis (Virgin’s Bower), and Boneset Next year these all should be glorious 040
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Probably the closest I’ve gotten to a swallowtail. The contrast between the red zinnia and this guy is so strikingly pretty 161
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 23/09/2026This is a random clump of asters that grew near my compost pile and I don’t know what it is and I want MORE 021
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Made some pickles for the winter with yesterdays harvest. Tho probably not gonna last that long on the shelf 010
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Here’s another “weed” that turned out to be an aster of some kind. Now this I have no idea. There’s multiple of the same that turned into something shrub-like. SO many flowers 010
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 20/09/2026They also got knocked down over time by a wind storm mid summer so that’s why the last pic they’re flopping hard lol 000
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 20/09/2026There were a couple, tall plants that I thought were weeds behind my compost bin. Couldn’t figure out what it was and waited until it flowered. Finally, it did and I’m glad I waited!! Ended being Smooth Blue Asters and they are SO showy. They look white, but in person it’s more light blue 131
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 19/09/2026I was wondering who kept eating chunks of my sunflower 230

Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Today’s harvest we got: habaneros, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, baby broccoli, and a single okra 171
Meteorologist Peu @midlatwx.bsky.social · 17/09/2026So cute and it’s eating my parsley lol. Only reason why I didn’t harvest it for our pasta. I’ll let it eat it because it’s a cute butterfly 010
