Hazel had to go to the vet for a booster shot, and because she’s nervous in the back room, and she’s big and strong, they had me dose her with gabapentin and trazadone. She’s tripping out in the front yard now. Maybe I’ll play some Dead and Phish for her journey.

It was kind of a witchy evening at the homestead last night.

The entry arch to my house covered in hydrangeas and jasmine in serious need of pruning on a moonlit night dappled with clouds, with the pines across the street in the background. The light from the moon and my front porch light combined to give the scene an autumnal, witchy glow.

Hazel is back from the dog park where she ran and wrestled with Dulcie and a supping cast of 10 or so other dogs. Now she is chilling off-leash in the front yard with Lucipurr, the cat. We’ve made a lot of progress this month!

It’s another post about my new bff, and amazing dog, Hazel. Get used to it! This morning we explored the sniffs at our local park. Then she was brave while I left home to run an errand. And she was braver still while I watered the front lawn and plant beds. We are chilling in the side yard now.

We have a new addition to our clan. Meet Hazel. She is a 1 year old bundle of energy. I tired a her out this evening by taking her to the dog park, where she met Mia and Doug and ran and wrestled with them in the off-leash park. She’s conked out on our bed now. (Big thanks to Mia and Doug!)

I am heartbroken. Yesterday Tilly suffered a from sudden, undiagnosed tumor that ruptured in her abdomen. We took her to the emergency vet and had to make the devastating decision to put her down. She passed peacefully at 10 1/2 years of age. Love on your dogs & bask with them in the sun.

This was during our top of duplex, no AC era. After soaking my dog Tilly twice in the shower we checked into a super sketch motel in Edmonds because it was the only place with AC that had a vacancy.

Back from our Tour de Bremerton which included Pendergast Park, a side trip to Winco, a walk on the Bremerton boardwalk, and the obligatory visit to #CafeCorvo for a pup cup and a cortado, Tilly lounges in the shade of the side yard.

Today I am addressing the longstanding issue of not practicing guitar in the front yard enough.

My view from the front yard: plants along the fence include a wisteria plant, a dwarf Japanese maple, some thornless berry plants. There’s a blue fountain against the fence. There are pine trees across the single lane road and a blue sky dappled with white puffy clouds.

Tilly and I explored a relatively new to us trail and crossed a stream to climb up a hill (she charged it), and got a bit of a view. Tilly loves a view. Then we climbed back down.

This is Tilly. She is a rescue who was returned because a family found her pittie grin aggressive. We’ve had her 9 years and while she has some trauma to deal with, in the main she’s a happy dog who love going to the park, basking in the yard, going to the beach and exploring at 10 years old.
