Well, I could read it in the app by showing graphic content. It seems to be only #12 blocked?

If you find it, drop a link here?

Thanks for responding - it doesn't seem to continue on mine even when I click on the post. Maybe a transient bug? I do appreciate your threads - I learn a lot from them and you give me the language and knowledge to fight with some people I know who are prone to believing certain problem myths.

The thread seems to have broken here? Or at least I can't find the rest?

oh! I am so glad you are willing to do this - you are one of the wisest people I follow on social media, and I know your thoughts will be helpful in shaping and clarifying my own! THANK YOU!!!

Okay, that is epic and probably an untoppable response to the question! Wish I could've read the piece

Oh my sister has a good GF recipe! I will text her and see if she still has it, then DM you if she does.

Thank you for all your reminders and work on this - I've submitted my comment to OMB, and used the work from SUFS to rally as many family and friends as I could to also comment. I know I could not do what you do, so I am grateful to have someone able to figure this out to follow on this!

I aim for 12 per year - so 1 per month. That tends to exceed the 3 per senior mark. I don't usually restrict reviews by journal, but there is one journal that asks me for a lot of reviews and desk rejects everything I send them, so I've mostly stopped reviewing for them.

If you try it, let us know how it works? I've been debating that since the printer fabric isn't always nice.
110
microbialus.bsky.social @microbialus.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
Is there a particular fabric you want to use? If not, I have had some luck printing outlines onto ink jet printable fabric... there is also print stitch dissolve paper I've been eyeing, but can't say if that works or not. Good luck, from a fellow hater of tracing

Did you write a haiku with epidemiology in the middle? I'd love to hear that!

I wish more did. We celebrate Happy Vaccine Day. Every time she gets a vaccine, I tell her all about the diseases prevented. And then we get a new book, because knowledge is why we can prevent diseases. Thank you for your public health posts.

My kid is one who will need 3 shots. I was both grateful for the option at 6 months and FURIOUS with the fools who made it necessary to stick my child with a needle an extra time.

Oops - sorry! My PhD is in molecular epidemiology, I work in a nutrition department where I teach an undergraduate biochem course, and my research is focused on the infant gut microbiome and antimicrobial resistance. So I have a little flexibility in what I would feel comfortable covering

I saw someone else quote post this with a lovely offer that I will echo - I also don't have direct collaborators in Minneapolis but would be willing to guest lecture if it would help.

Have you tried asking the corresponding author if the person who did the analysis the conclusions you are worried about would speak with you? Frame it as you want to learn for the future. I'd done the analysis that was over interpreted, had commented on my concerns 2x on drafts, then escalated.

microbialus.bsky.social @microbialus.bsky.social · 22/12/2025
Yes, I was worried about offending my colleagues, but instead everyone was incredibly professional and took my worries seriously

I asked to be removed from the author list. To my co-authors credit, this prompted an all author meeting and a serious discussion of my concerns. Which ended with a massive paper rewrite and a paper I was comfortable with

When I had my first ND, I literally could not make sense of the issues for 2 of 3 reviewers. God bless the third who gave me detailed comments, they're why I could resubmit. The summary on the discussion gave me a much better sense of what the sticking points were, and which I could address.

But it will matter to grad students, post-docs, and assistant professors. That's where more detailed feedback is critical to try and understand what went right or wrong...

It's a long shot - but I saw someone on here post about a tool to help with USDA COI forms. But I've lost the link! Does anyone who sees this still have the link to the tool to generate COI forms on github?

Try the freezer for 30 days. I had great luck getting the (insert expletive of choice) out of a container I wanted to keep inside that way. Pantry moths are awful, good luck!

Oh that is good! One of my favorites is about Van der Waals forces - if you are out at a restaurant with your friends, you lean in a little to chat (weakly attractive) but if someone gets so close they spit on someone else's plate when they talk, it's very weird (strongly repulsive)

Breastfeeding, ventilation and air filters, and things like vaccine mandates all help. But I live in Florida, so the only thing I can influence is the first one. I have a friend in another state who was able to donate a high quality air filter to the daycare classroom

Anyone else. Apparently this meant I was horribly biased and incompetent. I pointed out that English is necessary at US universities, and got a very rude reply. That one I wound up sharing the entire thread with the graduate coordinator to ensure no one else in the department tried to make an offer

microbialus.bsky.social @microbialus.bsky.social · 21/08/2025
Sure. I've had one who responded with why I had to have funding and went 4 deep on replies, then waited a week to resend the original email. That ended when I blocked them. The worst was one whose original email had such atrocious grammar I suggested having someone help edit it before contacting 1/2
110
microbialus.bsky.social @microbialus.bsky.social · 21/08/2025
Sadly, it gets worse. Sometimes I worry about replying even with "I am sorry I don't have funding at this time" because I've had some problem interactions

microbialus.bsky.social @microbialus.bsky.social · 21/08/2025
As someone who started in 2022, I got about 3/week at first. Significant uptick since grant funding became messy in the US, so 1/day is about what I am seeing now. Most are awful because the email makes it clear they didn't read the department website or anything about what I do.

Anybody know how to start petitions to amend the FL state constitution? I'd love to see an amendment prohibiting the use of state resources for federal immigration action - no money, no cop support, no use of state owned facilities... but I don't know where to start. Thanks!

Your breastmilk will best balance your baby's tummy! No need to make that more complicated. If a doctor (the MD kind) is worried about an allergic disease or reflux disease (not just normal baby reflux), then worry about diet. Absent that, breastmilk for the win!

microbialus.bsky.social @microbialus.bsky.social · 19/07/2025
But that is speculation on the cause, but diet can change breastmilk
