Michio Honda @michioh.bsky.social · 10/10/2026In our SMT paper in IEEE S&P'26, it was tricky to compare Homa variants against TCP due to the lack of port-based RSS, so we resorted to multiple IP addresses. Now no such tricks are needed. 050

Michio Honda @michioh.bsky.social · 12/05/2026@tianyigao.net and I just found clouds like AWS, GCP, Digital Ocean and Oracle pass packets with a non TCP/UDP number in the network header in their private network. This is not unsurprising given the network virtualization with middlebox features and good to see unosssified cloud networks. 051

Michio Honda @michioh.bsky.social · 11/04/2026TC-flower doesn't have such a mode, and even if there is, we'd use eBPF for sw because what we want is fast flow installation (by just map update). 000
Michio Honda @michioh.bsky.social · 11/04/2026The key technique is that we complement the weakness of tc offload (slow flow installation) with eBPF, rather than using eBPF just as backup when tc offload is unavailable. In other words, XO works without tc offload but not without eBPF (for horrible performance). Anyways it's your call! 200

Michio Honda @michioh.bsky.social · 07/03/2026Prism (NSDI'21) was great to bypass L7 proxy with TCP connection migration, but hard to deploy as it needs a programmable switch.
