A short while ago, the Michigan Supreme Court sided with the people and revived our Consumer Protection Act. The majority opinion in Attorney General v Eli Lilly grants consumers in Michigan the right to fight back when they are scammed by deceptive and unscrupulous businesses.

The decision is noted as a victory for consumers, reviving the Michigan Consumer Protection Act to protect against scams and fraud. Insurance industry lobbyists are working overtime to defeat SB 245 because it will ensure that insurance companies have to start treating their customers fairly when they file legitimate claims. Don't let them win: tell your State Senator to vote YES today on SB 245 at bit.ly/4vMb9GQ
The image is a poster titled "Senate Bill 245: Facts Over Fearmongering" by the Michigan Association for Justice. It claims the insurance industry made $405 billion in profit over three years by raising premiums and investing money instead of paying out legitimate claims in a timely manner. It argues against the industry's fearmongering that regulation will raise rates and drive insurers from Michigan, urging a YES vote on SB 245.

Insurance Industry Claim: “This new law will raise rates!” FACT: Insurance companies raise rates whenever they please, with or without new laws to reign in their bad behavior. Don't let them bully you out of your consumer rights. Tell your senator to vote YES on SB 245 bit.ly/4vMb9GQ
Insurance companies claim that every piece of legislation designed to reign in their bad behavior will raise rates. The truth is, insurance companies raise rates whenever they please, with or without legislation. In Michigan, they raised rates by 12% in 2025, while corporate profits soared to $151 billion.

Help curb runaway corporate profit at your expense by telling your state senator to vote YES on SB 245.
