🧵Today marks an historic day for us, the Kurds and other people in the Middle East. Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the PKK, called for the disarmament and dissolution of the PKK. There are arguments both for and against this call. 1/

The recent comments from the HTS are concerning. The Kurds have not sacrificed more than 11,000 young daughters and sons in the fight against ISIS in Syria to be ruled by Islamist jihadists.👇🏽

Defending #Rojava is both politically and morally essential. The Kurds in Rojava were the forces that led the war against ISIS, a threat to human dignity on an international scale. The Kurds not only liberated the Kurdish region in Syria but also sacrificed many young lives in Raqqa, the👇🧵

Everyone in Syria, except the Kurds, should have a taste of freedom at any moment! The only place under constant bombing, looting, and killing by the Turkish state and its backed SNA terrorist groups is the #DAANES and #Rojava. The US, the West, and their allies do not care about👇

Let’s celebrate today in solidarity with the revolutionary struggle and resistance of the women of #Rojava. Let’s unite to defend Rojava and the #DAANES, a beacon of hope for liberating life from the interlocked forms of power in the Middle East.

A Turkish attack on the #DAANES could reproduce the same forces of repression and Islamist extremism by weakening, challenging, and distracting the #SDF, and changing the balance of power in favour of other groups such as HTS.👇

So far, the Turkish state is the biggest threat to the stability of post-Assad Syria. #Turkey, with its SNA mercenaries, disrupts peaceful and democratic negotiations among the diverse actors in Syria. 🧵👇

If the international community and institutions want a more democratic and secular Syria that will not pose a threat to the West, and if they wish to prevent Afghanistan-like forms of governance from emerging in Syria, they must stop Turkish aggression and its SNA mercenaries.
