GRINDERMAN 2 RMX
Grinderman emerged when Nick Cave was writing material in 2005 for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' album Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus. Teaming up with Martyn Casey (bass), Warren Ellis (violin and guitar) and Jim Sclavunos (drums), the band got into a London studio in 2006 and began a marathon composition and mock-ups session. Aiming to recreate a more raw and primal sound, like that of Cave 's celebrated post-punk project The Birthday Party, Grinderman's lyrical and musical content diverged significantly from Nick Cave's previous work with The Bad Seeds. In April of the following year, they took the cream of these new songs and recorded an album with the help of their old friend and producer Nick Launay. Released on March 5, 2007, Grinderman, her 11-song debut album, was universally acclaimed by critics and contains the singles "No Pussy Blues" and "Get It On". The quartet met again in 2009 to record Grinderman 2, which was released in 2010. In December 2011, Cave announced the band's breakup at a music festival in Australia. The "fiercely exciting debut album" (Observer Music Monthly) is available on black eco-vinyl and CD in digisleeve format.
