I loved the in between stuff in Three Houses but Fortune’s Weave is over the line for me so far.

Going from “I’m getting worse” to “I did it” in 18 minutes is part of why I love games like this.

It’s nice of them to out themselves so willingly I guess…

I think “run-based racing game” will work for me in a way a lot of roguelites dont.

Still getting through Onimusha and chipping away at Fire Emblem.

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Finished The Ninth Jedi. Some fun characters and interesting ideas here. I don’t know if it was particularly memorable in the long run, but there is something very cool about “anime Star Wars”.

“I needed to know my zip code one time and I panicked! But I don’t need to know that stuff, despite just giving you a specific example of when I needed to know that stuff.”

There’s no right answer. Some games it feels like you gotta wait 1-2 years to properly review it.

000

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

@tolkoto.com @grubb.wtf @janochoa.bsky.social @danryckert.com I figured it out. You guys need to do a show which is all 4 of you trying to play through Mega Man 1-11 in order at the same time in a race to see who can beat them all first. Call it The Mega Run. You can even get Mega Ran to guest.

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

You guys even pointed out how PlayStation has also been fucking up multiple times lol.

You and Andy definitely brought up a lot of those concerns back then. Tim is the one I remember being the most optimistic.

Janet, please stop! You’re really good at making your point! I want to be excited for this game! 😭 (this is a joke, you do you)

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

As someone excited for Fortune’s Weave, I appreciated your review.

Dumb that the Switch 2 Edition isn’t discounted but you can just get the switch 1 version and the upgrade pack.

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

@grubb.wtf have you seen or heard anything confirming Kojima Productions is losing access to the Decima Engine, or is it all just reasonable speculation?

000

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

But Classic isn’t Vanilla anymore right? Haven’t they been slowly rolling out the expansions on that as well?

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

I’ll probably wait on playing more Blood of Dawnwalker to see if they get a few more patches in.

I’m thinking Control Resonant is the next game I want to mainline and finish, but in the meantime I have other games I can start/mess around with. -Onimusha: Way of the Sword -Star Fox Adventures (NSO) -Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (MC Vol 2)

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Finished Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. Tells a touching story in a fun action/adventure, which I’m always down for.

The Mandalorian and Grogu was entertaining, even though it felt entirely unnecessary.

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

My pick is Mina the Hollower, but I think GTA6 will sweep most awards with Big Walk taking a few as well.

Michael McCarthy @michaelmccarthy.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

The Blood of DawnWalker and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy are both living up to my expectations. A vampire RPG from former Witcher 3 devs and an Uncharted-style adventure in the Plague Tale universe. 2026 is such a banger year for single player games. #Gaming

The Witcher was good about letting you start the expansions on a new save with a leveled up Geralt if it comes to that.

this one is especially egregious

A single panel comic hand drawn illustration of Barret Wallace from FF7 gesturing disgustedly to a screenshot from nvidia's atrocious DLSS 5 slop that leaked, showing a photo of what was once Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is now a yassified Al model standing in a flatly lit Instagram environment. Barret's text box reads "We're killin' the planet for THIS shit?"

It’s such a shame cause it’s a really great game, but yeah, just too damn long.

Finished Ghost of Yotei. For me, this game was better than Tsushima and just about every way (and Tsushima was really good). Glad I finally took the time to get through it.

Finished Caliban’s War (book 2 of the Expanse). Enjoyed it just as much as the first book, and what a final line…
