True, Kat got very close despite an unfair disadvantage due to AIPAC. But it's unlikely she would've had the 4k-5k votes necessary to take the lead otherwise. That's just 4k-5k people who didn't connect with her, and that's ok. It just means she wasn't what the district wanted at that time.

Some more true things: -AIPAC spent gobs to disparage Kat AND Biss -Kat's campaign had problems (the district drama, Biss's name rec, the overreliance on social media) that likely would've caused her to lose anyway -Kat, regardless, ran a good campaign that just wasn't meant to be

I remember Radioapple being a bit of a rarepair prior to S1E5, and then once Hell's Greatest Dad played it skyrocketed up to being one of the top ships. I'd consider it less a sleeper hit and more an overnight success (and one that was amazing to watch blow up).
