For most other applications I believe you'll still need and want a proficient portrait photographer to capture you in the best light. In any case it was an interesting exercise. For the moment I think I'll stick to using a camera or getting someone else to point one at me.

There is very little unique about the portraits. For corporate head shots, LinkedIn and business purposes, AI generated images will absolutely replace this service if it hasn't done already. If you want all your team to look like a coherent group with minimal effort, this will be how it's done.

I couldn't influence the results either. What you get is what you get. Some of the clothes match what I wore in the reference images, though most are from the software. One of the main things I noticed when looking through the results is how generic they make you look.

Michael Dooney @michaeldooney.net · 19/11/2024
These were made with PortraitPal which other's have achieved good results with, when compared to other models. The 4 images above are the better results it achieved. Some of the below examples show how off the mark it was. It was $45 for 60 images and took around 3 hours for them to be ready.

Michael Dooney @michaeldooney.net · 19/11/2024
It's one thing to see a photo of yourself and think "I don't look like that" when actually you do. But it's entirely another when you see an AI generated image that looks pretty close to who you are, knowing that it isn't you.

Michael Dooney @michaeldooney.net · 19/11/2024
I've been reading a lot about AI generated portraits lately, so I was curious to try it out. There is a very uncanny valley feeling about seeing AI generated images of yourself, as compared to seeing AI generated portraits of anyone else.
