Can confirm. I swear to Crockett my second born has read her entire school library already. Literally the whole thing. Here she is reading at dinner as I type this.

I took a political survey on energy policy. After a bunch of questions about approaches to electricity generation, they drop this beauty. Saying servers "power" the internet in a survey SPECIFICALLY ABOUT WHERE WE GET THE POWER FOR THE INTERNET made me throw my whole laptop out the window.
As you may know, data centers are facilities that house the servers that power the internet, apps, and artificial intelligence. Would you support or oppose a data center being built near where you live?

Why did I even bother getting a PhD in survey methodology? Seriously.
Generally speaking, would you say that things in THIS COUNTRY are headed in the right direction, or would you say that things are seriously headed off on the wrong track?

"Wrong track"

I had to go through my camera roll to find some photos I took for work and I am realizing that it's like... over 50% photos of a sleeping dog. It's too much and I am embarrassed... but also, look at this sleeping boy!

@megmralph.bsky.social taught me about "vocal fry" last weekend and now it is all I can think about. Every conversation. Every interaction. I am cursed.
"I bet he's thinking about other women" meme, but with all the content focused on vocal fry.

I also laughed in a sad and solemn kind of way that the paper with the very lowest (citations per year) was this work way back from season 3... one of my all-time favorites full stop: What If Only What Can Be Counted Will Count? A Critical Examination of Making Educational Practice “Scientific”
A paper near the bottom is circled with few citations and a darker color indicating it is from an early season.

This paper is also outkicking the coverage from a more recent year... which also tracks, given the prominence and strength of name recognition of the author team.

I would much prefer to pour resources into staffing schools (tutors) and creating high quality instructional materials rather than creating bigger LLMs. That is informed to a substantial degree by the lack of progress from LLMs in moving from "now" to "ideal"... doi.org/10.1038/s415...
Two graphs showing LLMs growing in size are 1) willing to answer more prompts, and 2) are not getting more correct.

@donmoyn.bsky.social's recent piece turns my thoughts briefly to an interaction I had with a former colleague in Sept (not from the US)... He believed Trump would help with housing because he had a real estate business. I told him outright "no" even then. Housing one of the largest cuts in 2026.

Okay. It will never be the right time to move on (with posting or whatever)... but let's try to start by using a line from The Martian: "At some point, everything's gonna go south and you're going to say, this is it. This is how I end. Now, you can either accept that or you can get to work."
