?test_that uses "unit" and "test" seemingly interchangeably... The "skipping tests" vignette implies the expect* are "tests" since skip* doesn't strictly skip whole test_that() blocks

Michael Chirico @michaelchirico.bsky.social · 16/04/2026
OK nomenclature check -- is it a test_that() unit and an expect_*() test? e.g. "this test_that() unit is too complicated, it has too many tests"? or is a unit the file which has tests consisting of expectations? cc @hadley.nz

well, they're both there at cran.rstudio.com/src/contrib/PACKAGES one has Path: 4.6.0/Other, whatever that means 🧐

resolved by using filters=c('R_version', 'duplicates'), though I still don't understand where this 4.6.0 version comes from...

Michael Chirico @michaelchirico.bsky.social · 17/12/2025
never seen that one before... any idea @eddelbuettel.com I don't see any indication Rcpp has ever required R 4.6
Two invocations of available.packages(), one with filters='duplicates', returning different R version requirements for Rcpp

what a paragraph www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
Outside of Seoul, children are largely phantom presences. There are a hundred and fifty-seven elementary schools that had no new enrollees scheduled for 2023. That year, the seaside village of Iwon-myeon recorded a single newborn. The entire town was garlanded with banners that congratulated the parents by name “on the birth of their lovely baby angel.” One village in Haenam, a county that encompasses the southern extremity of the Korean peninsula, last registered a birth during the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
