Ya know, I've tried to watch Horror Express several times over the years, but I've never gotten past the opening. Don't know why. This time it worked for me, and wow, what a nifty little blend of horror and scifi. #HorrorSky #FilmSky #PeterCushing #ChristopherLee

Saw this beauty in Audubon Park, while Kristie and I were spending last week in New Orleans, celebrating our 20th Anniversary. Anyone know what type of bird this is?

I enjoyed watching the 1977 Spider-Man TV movie last night for all of its cheesy glory. I watched this series as a kid, and it seemed like magic to me to see my comic book heroes come to life.

That's fantastic. I started with Pertwee and the show was a life saver for me. It gave me something to hold onto during a traumatic childhood. I will always treasure the fact that I got to meet my first Doctor.

I never tire of this picture, a pre-Code gem packed with amazing performances. A film about Prohibition made during Prohibition, it doesn't shy away from its subject. So many scenes contrasting the light and dark for maximum effect. Such a tone of deep desperation. And a perfect ending.

For #HobbitDay I offer up an image of the first screen adaptation I ever saw of Tolkien's work. This 1977 TV production is not my favorite version of the book, but at the time it seemed magical to have it to watch.

Peter Sagal rides to the rescue and defends hypocrite Eric Lipton of the NYT. Wait, wait, don't tell me...Sagal is as bad as Lipton.

Evervbodv is furious at Mr Lipton for saying this but it appears to be true. Here's the WSJ:
Leavitt had a reputation for being helpful to inquiring reporters: Replies to requests for comment often arrived with friendly exclamation points--even if she had iust berated some of them for a "stupid question" in the briefing room moments before.

Eric Lipton NYT @ericlipton.nyti... 2d One you might find surprising. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt & members of her team have been extremely helpful in responding to questions I raise. Regardless of public facing commentary, privately they are willing to engage and address questions And I have appreciated that. Thank you

Kristie and I just started watching the late 70s show "Lou Grant", a drama spun off the Mary Tyler Moore show. And after all these years, it still holds up. A great series about a Los Angeles newspaper. I haven't seen these episodes since they originally aired.
