You know that trope about time travel, that if one could travel back in time they would kill baby hitler? We are currently in the baby hitler phase, but instead of the holocaust, we could prevent nuclear war. Who could hack the nuclear codes? That's right, ai could. And, why wouldn't it.

Yeah, that was really disappointing. It's a start, but we really need some momentum to actually get AOC into the white house...

That's actually not true! You look at how little trump gets for his corruption compared to how much he gives away. They don't care at all and are happy to get any grift. There was a post here about Paxton getting 250k. That is nothing to a billionaire, a day's interest accruing for free.

22 California billionaires have spent a combined $150 million to defeat Prop 40. Their combined wealth in January 2025 was $439 BILLION. By September 2026, it had grown to $722 BILLION. They're accidentally making the case for the billionaire tax better than anyone else could.

Wrote a thing Monday. Got held back and is a weekend read at the Guardian today. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
While the criminal justice system should address reports of rape, we know that rates of conviction are appallingly low for a number of reasons. Although, thanks to feminist interventions, the legal system is better equipped to understand this crime and less prejudiced against victims, we will not change the world through that means.

After rape allegations at Cornell University, why are women again being urged to talk to their sons? Why not men?

Sexual assault arises in part through both the entitlement and the desire to abuse and dehumanize women, which is in part about definitions of both masculinity and femininity: masculinity in that domination, violation and degradation are seen as status-enhancing, femininity in the perception that women’s bodies are for men to use, women’s voices and rights to be ignored.

The most compelling thing I’ve read in response to the Cornell case is in an essay by feminist writer Soraya Chemaly. She cites anthropologist Peggy Sanday, who told her that there are “rape-prone” and “rape-free” societies: “She found that in rape-free cultures, women have far more authority, status, safety and freedom.”

They’re societies in which women’s rights to bodily and social self-determination are respected, and a man who violates those rights would face severe consequences. “Rape-prone cultures, on the other hand, treat rape as an entitlement in a system that revolves around masculine contests and hierarchies.”

In the first few months of 2025, the Trump administration attempted to cancel around $267 million in federal spending on legal aid for migrants. For legal aid groups all over America, recovery from the tumultuous early months of the second Trump administration has been excruciating.

First Trump came for immigrants. Then he came for their lawyers.

John Roberts has spent his entire career trying to kill the Voting Rights Act. Now his Republican-appointed majority is dusting off arguments once used to destroy Reconstruction to roll back the gains made during the civil rights era. The latest from @AriBerman & @pemalevy: tinyurl.com/3m6nawpj
Mother Jones magazine cover linking the Roberts Supreme Court to a revival of Jim Crow: a black judicial robe hangs next to a white KKK hooded robe with a hand reaching toward it; headline "The Southern Strategy" and subhead "Jim Crow was dead and buried. Then came the Roberts court."
