Today I put the first roll of film, #Kentmere 200, through my brand-new MIA Mezzaluna 66 #pinhole camera from @miapinholecameras.bsky.social. In my usual fashion, mistakes were made, lessons were learned, strange photos resulted. I look forward to trying again, with greater insight this time.

This is perhaps the best-exposed image on the roll, and it was made in the shade and taken of my favorite test subject, the fire hydrant.

This image suffered a bit from camera shake, but is by far the most interesting of the lot, even if by accident. I was trying to get a close-up of the manhole cover (another of my favorite test subjects), but the extremely wide angle on this camera meant it captured the shadow of yours truly as well as my feet and calves and the tripod I was using to hold the camera over the manhole cover.

I was actually standing really close to that dumpster. A couple of lessons from this image. First: however close I think I am to my subject, I should probably get closer. Second, don’t fat roll your film. Notice the light leaks at the edges.

I was trying to do something interesting here looking up through the branches of an evergreen tree, but the wind kicked up during the exposure and blurred the image. It also invited a lot more light into the picture than I metered for, overexposing the image. Still, I don’t know. I kind of like it.
