Strange how the history of the world has changed so dramatically, and perhaps the downward slope started with a seemingly humorous (at the time) lawsuit forcing Musk to buy Twitter… I wonder what state the world would be in now if this hadn’t have happened? arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...

Twitter sues Elon Musk, says he can’t “trash the company… and walk away”

Lawsuit: Musk’s contractual breaches “cast a pall over Twitter and its business.”…

When I first started reading this I though,t “is this really news, this issue has been around for years…” but then it gets interesting - kudos to the researchers on this one!

@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social loving the podcast, but for balance, think you should invite @edzitron.com to be interviewed, to give an alternative view of AI :)

iOS 18.2.1 seems to fix the really annoying bug where the iPhone torch doesn’t turn on (either immediately or sometimes at all)… likewise for the camera button from the Lock Screen! 🎉

PSA: shop around for insurance at *every* renewal! Car insurance renewal received: up 50% from the best price I got last year. Spent about 30 mins looking, found a new provider that comes in at 10% less than last year's price (almost half of the renewal price from the current provider).

One of the most underrated apps for the iPhone is Shortcuts - it can create some really powerful outcomes, in just a few steps. For example, this 3-step Shortcut allows you to use the share screen to summarise a whole variety of content (web pages straight from Safari, files, etc) with ChatGPT

Screenshot of an iOS shortcut that receives content from the share sheet, passes it into ChatGPT with a prompt, and copies the output to the clipboard

Feeling refreshed after a short break, I'm very happy to announce that today I joined Rayo as their CTO. I'm excited for a number of reasons, not least of which is the chance of working with Chris and Robert again (both of whom were instrumental in my deciding to join AWS way back in 2016). 1/3

Great session, worth watching! What is also interesting to me is that of the 18 in that list, 15 aren’t about GenAI but instead focus on the core services… :)

Thoughts on Swami's keynote (with a public sector focus). TL;DR: great Bedrock enhancements, continued progress on Q as a useful tool for developers & analysts, and a number of additions to SageMaker that the vast majority of customers shouldn't bother about :) www.linkedin.com/pulse/aws-re...

And a little bit about me; worked with AWS services since 2011, and have spent the last 8.5 years at AWS (my current role being Chief Technologist, UK Public Sector). However, I'm leaving shortly, and moving to a new company - but will still be very focussed on helping public sector orgs use AWS!

First post on Bluesky, after having spent ages in the wilderness on Twitter (joined way back in 2008) - but loving the vibes here so far, looking forward to being far more active on this platform in the future!
