The second rule of covers: a song covered by Linda Ronstadt is better than the original.
That’s it, two rules. After that, anything goes. #xpncountdown I had to double check, I heard it through the grapevine by Marvin Gaye was 149, by CCR 49. My guess is that a lot of people thought Marvin’s was the original. Gladys Knight and the Pips are having a good laugh.
