Hey all. It's come to my attention that some people are scooping my comics and changing the captions, adding themselves as as co-creators. Also that some are scooping my comics & adding their own branding. All without permission. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS.

#kidlitartpostcard pro tip. Include key words that describe the elements in your postcard. In addition to posting open calls when I'm looking for illustrators I also sometimes search #kidlitartpostcard + key words. These posts live beyond the day they're posted.

3- Zoom in.. (this particular shop as bird feet unfinished (they look like twines or tiny noodles 🫠😆) hands/feet that blends into nothing (ai slop = sloppy)) Im honestly dumbfounded that people would pay that much for such sloppy art 💩

010

Marie-Helene Babin @mhbabin.bsky.social · 07/04/2026

2- No description in the about section of their art process, no mention how the original artwork was created, what mediums do they use.. watercolor? Inks? Oils?

010

Marie-Helene Babin @mhbabin.bsky.social · 07/04/2026

There are people willing to pay $30 for a 5x7 print of pure ai slop. If you’re a buyer and do not want to support ai slop, signs to look for are: 1- They’ve been in business for 10 months, and have over 1k sales! (Impossible to achieve so many sales in such a short amount of time for real artist)

Marie-Helene Babin @mhbabin.bsky.social · 07/04/2026

To all the real artists out there.. do NOT underprice yourself. I stumbled upon an Etsy shop earlier on, selling art prints. They are selling their 5x7 print for CAN $41.08 (there was a 30% off which took it down to CAN $28.75). Honestly.. i was concerned for charging about $20 for my 5x7 🙄

Techbros seem to love Tolkien, so here's an analogy to help you understand what genAI is. GenAI is The One Ring. You think your use is justified, b/c you don't have evil in your heart. But it came from evil, it is intended for evil purpose, & anything you do with it will be twisted to that end.

Boromir from THE LORD OF THE RINGS, holding The One Ring. He thought he could use it for good, but everything done with the ring turns to evil. He was one of the mightiest warriors of middle earth, and he could not resist its powers. Others even mightier fell to the ring. Do you think you are stronger than them? The One Ring is generative AI.

Depends what you ship as well of course! I ship greeting cards and prints, so nothing bulky or heavy. But i have found that the shipping cost, whether i ship to Oregon or Florida, is pretty much the same.

010

Marie-Helene Babin @mhbabin.bsky.social · 21/02/2026

Before the tariffs, with the small business discount, tracked shipping was cheaper with Canada post, but since the tariffs, chit chats became more affordable (plus more reliable, and a more streamlined process). Im in Vancouver and shipping anywhere in the US costs about $10-$11 with tracking.

110

Marie-Helene Babin @mhbabin.bsky.social · 20/02/2026

Depends.. if you use Canada post, yes, its a seperate step. But if you use chit chats, the declaration is integrated.. way easier. They’re also cheaper than canada post.
