Hell of a week to launch a service that depends on this

Drop me an email if you want an invite (sadly it's not as open as yours was, the regulatory environment doesn't feel like I can do that any more, sadly)

Thank you! I'm afraid I only heard about it yesterday, after I put mine together, from @moh-kohn.eurosky.social

oddly enough I had a similar acuteproblem with my eye last year, and my optician at the time was Boots, who basically told me to fuck off by saying I needed to wait two weeks for an appointment. I have a different optician now

Wild to read this post a day or two after I built and deployed a similar clone, I never heard of it before

I asked this when I was learning welding recently, and the instructor said to keep our gloves on when using angle grinders - he said that because the inertia of the grinder is much smaller than a large machine, if it catches on your glove it will just stall, though he did say that was an exception

I had two panniers, I had intended to only take one, but with tent, sleeping bag/mat/pillow, and stove, that basically filled one so I had to bring the other for food, clothes, etc. I did take a warm jacket I didn't use and a couple of other things but I'd not want to be without them

Did some fairly low-stakes bike touring at the weekend. My first overnight trip, to a campsite I have already been to. It was fun! I was slow, but I got there and back. I am pretty sure I took too much stuff, but I actually can't think of much gear I wouldn't take again.
A very orange hybrid bike leaning against a gate on a field. It has a slightly paler orange pannier bag on the back. The pannier bag honestly looks a little like a packed liferaft.

It's very cool, I remember the first time I used it I discovered it tries to make sound directional so when you move your head it shifts, which was very disconcerting (and I also have no idea how it works)

I first saw this film when I was very young and have seen it many, many times since. It's one of my favourites. I took it at face value the first time have been too familar with it to be objective about it. But this video has some good points. (And I laughed out loud at the "it's regulation" bit)

The "you wouldn't download a car" anti-piracy warning, but edited to read "you wouldn't cache a page", in reference to all the recent Linux security vulnerabilities involving the page cache

#Nix folks: Do you use anything like NixOps, Morph, Colmena, or something along those lines? If so, what's your preference?

Yeah, it seemed like all the London ones sold out very quickly :/ So did the Glasgow one to be fair, though I was ready (and I know at least one other person who got in)

If you are a programmer and use Rust, you can do this
A screenshot of a terminal session on a Mac where the user has typed `cargo install cargo-space`, which installed a package, and then ran the command `cargo space`, which replied with "car no do that. car go road"

An electron microscrope image of a tardigrade, playing a violin. A scale at the bottom right indiciates that it's around 150μm in length.

Also it seems that the person in question understood things in the browser to not generally require credentials from their Windows account. Windows Hello blurs those lines by using your login PIN to authenticate, which is a bit of a departure

I'm not sure really. I don't use Windows so I don't know what the onboarding UX is like. It seems like it was easy to dismiss and create a key without quite understanding that's what it was doing. So there's a balance between education and not getting in the way of what someone is doing
