My new motto for golf The only reason I'm in the deep rough is to experience the full course
Picture of Matthew Schaefer with the quote "I think my favorite thing about my golf game is I like to see the full course. A lot of people drive it up the middle and just see the fairway. I'm in the bushes and the trees. I like to see the full course"

Chart of global life expectancy vs time. Life expectancy is essentially flat at about 30 years from 1500 to 1900, and it then rapidly increases towards 80 years

Answer: Filling empty circle with rune for 3 (the one that looks like pi/is in the top right circle); each circle on the right is filled with the sum of the rune to its left and the rune above that one

At this point they were on right track and managed to solve but here are some bonus hints if needed 1: You get a feeling that, perhaps, the runes are a tally mark system? 2: Setting the totals equal on left and right does not seem to work easily, nor does splitting into equal top and bottom halves

Matt Friedman @mfrieds.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
Hint 3 (stuck for a bit and prayed for some help): You feel your deity guiding you and feel drawn not to the shape of the runes but their composition

Hint 2 (Walking around the chamber for clues): You notice many of the books are related to math, with the rest focusing on nature, astronomy, and magic

Hint 1 (Investigation check on the stone): There seems to be very faded etchings on the blank circle, an echo of what might have once been there, but you can't make out what it is
100 1
Matt Friedman @mfrieds.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
First tries: You can't move any of the runes; they're engraved in the stone. Pushing/pulling doesn't do anything. Knock won't open it. No visible area to use lockpicking tools (basically, have to solve the puzzle to advance)

Scene setting: Circles and runes engraved on stone filled archway in antechamber of the BBEG that lit up in arcane glow when the wall was approached; lots of books plus a few gold pieces and some artwork decorate the room

I need to start including more puzzles in my DnD campaigns. Ran a one shot yesterday and watching players struggle through and solve puzzles is one of my favorite parts of DMing (here's the puzzle if anyone wants to try solving with hints they got and the answer in thread. Took them ~20 mins)
Two columns of circles with various symbols inside. In the left column, from top down, the circles have 2 lines, 1 line, 4, 1, [blank/missing marks], 5, 2. On the right from top down (which starts one spot lower than the left), the circles have 3 lines, 5, 5, 4, 8, 7.

Among patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, the RAS(ON) inhibitor daraxonrasib led to significantly longer overall survival and progression-free survival than chemotherapy. Full phase 3 RASolute 302 trial results: nej.md/4nWaxvM #ASCO26
Graph from a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine on daraxonrasib versus chemotherapy for metastatic pancreatic cancer. The x-axis represents months, and the y-axis shows the percentage of patients alive. Two lines indicate survival rates: daraxonrasib (blue) and chemotherapy (gray). The bottom section lists patients at risk over time. Title and journal logo are included.

If you want to branch out some, can't recommend Emperor of All Maladies (Dr. Mukherjee) and The Death of Cancer (Dr. DeVita, past MCI director) enough. Great reads and don't need med background for either Poli related? The Presidents and the People (Corey Brettschneider) was a solid read
