Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 29mI run a lot of Mothership and am often called on to describe some pretty heinous stuff. I've played with the same people for a long time, so I mostly know where the line is, and I have a canary in the coal mine, whose face crinkles up when I get to the line. Personally, the more the better. 100
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 40mThe public domain is nothing less than our cultural heritage as human beings. And when you use it, you carry the creative works of our ancestors forward into the future. I think about this a lot, and it's beautiful that the work of long dead artists can find new audiences in new contexts. 020
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 48mIncluding random people that get involved. I'm loving Lenny Rush in it this season. 010
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 1hYeah, most bullshitters are like that. They prefer anecdotes over data because it allows them to say any dumb old shit. 000
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 1hI can't tell you how depressing it is to see Neal Stephenson doing a company to sell you slop stories for Fortnite. 040
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 1hTo be fair, given his past history with trying to start and run companies, it will be a dismal failure, so we won't have to consider it for long. 000
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 1hIt could be, but you'd need data to make that argument, and you don't have any, because all the data that anyone's gathered says the opposite. Otherwise you're just running your mouth. 000
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 1hI'd want 4. A dungeon crawler, a crunchy tactical, an investigative, and a narrative. For me that's probably going to be B/X, Lancer, Delta Green, and maybe Stonetop or a FitD/CfB. 010

Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 2hI saw that one in the theater, age 8. I found it chaotic and frightening after the Rankin-Bass Hobbit, and for many years was upset that there had been no Rankin-Bass Lord of the Rings. But then I grew up and realized how great it was. 110

Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 15hTwo years ago I was discussing this with someone who manages programmers for a large American car company, and he said it was this amazing force multiplier for good coders. Last time I talked to him he said exactly what you're saying now, that it turned out to be mostly illusory. 000
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 15hNo one here has the power to ban AI. What the fuck are you even talking about? 000
Complex Oscillator @mfelps.bsky.social · 15hThis is just gun humper bullshit. The exact same stuff. There are plenty of people who have experience with it that think it sucks shit. And even when they fail, they do damage, because you're fighting a lawsuit with no revenue. 030
