You don't know the half of it. Last Friday's Jeopardy! round had two categories written based on Ken's suggestion alone off a seemingly random Bluesky post. I've been here for a while, but even I didn't recognize it.

Wikipedia screen shot showing the Big Duck in Flanders, New York, as the featured article.
The Big Duck is a 20-foot-tall (6.1 m) ferrocement building in the shape of a duck, and a canonical example of novelty architecture. Built in 1931 in Riverhead, New York, it was moved several times to locations on eastern Long Island, ending up in Flanders in 2007. This structure inspired the word duck as a common term in academic literature used to refer to buildings shaped like everyday objects or describe excessive ornamentation used in graphical presentations of data. It was built by duck farmer Martin Maurer for use as a shop to sell ducks and duck eggs. This was during a period when duck farming was a growing industry on eastern Long Island and novelty architecture was on the rise due to the increasing popularity of automobiles. It was added to both the National Register of Historic Places and the New York State Register of Historic Places in 1997, and is a principal building on the Big Duck Ranch, which was listed on both registers in 2008.

Since all but the first paragraph of the original version of this appears to have been memory holed, here it is.
Joe Buck-hosted 'ESPN Jeopardy!' will be a test of the ESPN brand

The contestants are mostly ESPN and NFL Network personalities, as well as NFL players turned commentators.

By Manny Soloway on 07/10/2026
The first-ever ESPN Jeopardy!, hosted by Joe Buck, is almost here, and ESPN has revealed the celebrity contestants.

The show will feature Jeopardy! material focused on ESPN. Each contestant will represent a charity, and the winner will receive a $500,000 grand prize. There will be eighteen contestants, split into six quarterfinals. The celebrities are ESPN personalities, NFL Network personalities, NFL players-turned-commentators, or other celebrities.

ESPN personalities participating include Madelyn Burke, Kevin Negandhi, Hannah Storm, Jay Harris, Amina Smith, MJ Acosta, Peter Schrager, Omar Raja, Christine Williamson, Jeremy Schaap, and Kimberley Martin. NFL Network fans will be able to watch Kyle Brandt and Jamie Erdahl. Former NFL players-turned-commentators Domonique Foxworth and Manti Te'o will also participate, alongside celebrities Jon Hamm, Keegan-Michael Key and Adam Pally.

The toughest test for this show will be finding an audience. This is not a sports Jeopardy show; clues will focus on ESPN rather than sports in general. That's perfect for sports media nerds, but how many of those exist? How many people can "play along" and know the history of ESPN and its personalities off the top of their head? Plus, unlike most versions of Jeopardy!, the show will not air over-the-air; instead, it will exclusively stream on Disney+ and Hulu. The show also doesn't exactly have the biggest celebrity draws. Only three contestants are not sports media personalities, and those who are don't have much crossover appeal outside the sports world. It would be one thing for it to be Stephen A Smith, Scott Van Pelt and Chris Russo, who have big personalities that make them memorable even if you have never heard them before. That isn't to say there is anything wrong with the commentators who have been chosen to participate, but they aren't exactly well-known or feature big personalities.

So this show will provide an interesting test for the ESPN brand and sports media in general. A strong showing might prove that the sports media niche is not exclusively interesting to sports media nerds.

I saw this at the other place —
Yesh Ginsburg (yeah222) on Twitter:

Here's the issue with Dems trying to get Platner to drop out. There are three logical possibilities about the worst rumors about him:

1. He knows they're false.
2. He knows they're true but doesn't care.
3. He knows they're true and thinks he can keep them covered up.

If it's 1

then he has zero reason to drop out. Sure, fighting them might hurt politically, but if the truth is on his side it's a fight he should fight, and should win.

If it's 2 then you can't force him out.

So Dems who want him to drop out are hoping it's 3, and they're basically...

banking on him dropping out now (as they bluff and show him it won't stay quiet), or they're hoping he won't default to #2 once it becomes clear that #3 won't happen.

In short, it's a very small window of hope for Dems who want a non-Platner candidate.

Comma outside the quotes has been de rigeur on the show since 1984, for a couple of reasons:

2) In the early days of the show with smaller clue screens, it was seen as more readable quickly at a distance.
