Our new DIY bacteria bioprinter is published! For less than $500, our in-house designed printer can create bacteria-laden, free-standing structures with high aspect ratios or internal cavities, which can form engineered biofilms. pubs.acs.org/aapmcd/artic... @urochester.bsky.social @pubs.acs.org

The glass-coated cells capture and scatter light into long jets that are focused a few um away from the cells. The cells remain alive for several months after encapsulation, creating the possibility to sense and respond to their environment.
