What happens on the #GrouseGrind when the hikers are gone? 👀 Every fall, crews repair and replace steps, stairs, and retaining walls to help keep the trail safe and resilient for the 250,000+ visitors it welcomes each year. The trail closes for maintenance starting Oct 13. 🥾 #MetroVancouver

It is the last day of summer and water restrictions are still in effect across the region where lawn watering is permitted one morning per week until restrictions end on October 15. Trees, shrubs, and flowers can be hand watered at any time. Vegetable gardens are exempt. metrovancouver.org/lawns

Metro Vancouver Regional District has ended the air quality warning that has been in effect since August 24, 2026 for eastern and central Fraser Valley. Air quality has improved due to a change in the weather and wind from the coast helping move smoke eastward and out of the region.

The fire near the border of West Van now under control. Another fire caused by last night’s lightning strikes has been discovered near the Village of Lions Bay. We are working with BC Wildfire Service, Lions Bay Fire Department, and Lions Bay Search and Rescue to respond.
