And it's not just FCO and the World Service. The BBC more generally is having to make vast cuts as are the National Gallery, British Library, National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company... The list goes on. The UK is destroying its own cultural identity as well as its soft power.

Just had an absolutely delightful evening at Ronnie Scott’s. The one downside of a great gig is that you have to go home in silence because no record quite compares to live.
