Does that include the calls of him being an anti russian war monger up until the invasion turned out to be undeniably real?

This is kind of a meme that the freshly enlisted tell each other, but not much more than that

The core tension is that we have a strong intuition it is, but there actually isn't much published that supports this

Increasing hurdles on data centers construction will eventually tip the scale on narrative IMO. I would expect to see this materializes as market prices post-midterms state legislation

It's worth saying, they have every reason to want to downplay the existence of ongoing negotiations, regardless of whether they're happening or not, since the public markets are their main (arguably only) lever during negotiations.

The main difference I've gleaned from real life interactions (especially with younger people) is that the Canadians seem to think they’re being more subtle about it (they weren't)

I don't necessarily disagree, but Chinese info ops intention is not to push sides or set trends, but hammer away at cracks in the social fabric of the west. In fact I would say I/P is such a crack, and has been long before 7.10

Well this is funny for a different reason. EA is an outlier in that it's a well run company that offers workers better benefits relative to industry, but gamers hate them because they dislike the business models that enable these exact qualities.

Honestly, not even necessarily that different from "old" fascism. Chaplin's movie just portrays fascism in a very american way.

Ya, that is one of the works I've actually read on the topic. I was less of a fan as they come off as very interpretative and eclectic (the author makes references all over to Heidegger and other philosophers in attempt to connect different concepts. there was also some weird west-east thing?)

It for sure sounds in that direction, thanks a lot! I always found it lacking that there's a niche for celebrating the useful discoveries, but not much discussion on the harmful entrenchments (the discourse on Schizophrenia comes to mind)

Thanks for this as well. If you don't mind, are you familiar with any *negative* takedown of the results of the Macy conferences/offshoots? I was always interested in a commentary that tries to make sense of when these strands were helpful for a discipline, and when (catastrophically) the opposite

Metabel @metabel.bsky.social · 06/09/2025
Interesting idea. I've always understood the Macy conferences, cybernetics etc. as being downstream of new approaches and discoveries in psychiatry/neuroscience (Ross Ashby, Sturgis McCulloch etc.), namely neural networks as circuits, less so with engineering per se. Thx for the book recommendation.

Out of curiosity, where is the one month figure coming from? AFAIK, there is no set amount of time they're going to spend in jail. Most objectors eventually release for "health reasons" ("profile 21") based on occasional psychological evaluations. Otherwise, they may be subjected to a lot longer

Sorry, I could've phrased this better. Specifically, my argument is that the jews "learning from the Holocaust" relies on a rhetorical move where the experience of survivors is somehow generalized to the world jewry, which connects (and only makes sense) to a conspiracist view of a universalist jew
100
Metabel @metabel.bsky.social · 17/08/2025
Correct, but that's exactly the notion of a Global jew I pointed at that antisemitism relies on
100
Metabel @metabel.bsky.social · 17/08/2025
Analytically, the exact moment of antisemitism is the generalization of the ashkenazi holocaust experience in Europe to a broader group/category 'jews', as it pertains to the internal logic of a Global jew. When you look at the data, Holocaust survivors in fact do tend to be more compassionate/left

And what is 'fundamental value'? This is hardly the one economic theory of bubbles since this notion is so nebulous. To me something like Cochrane's writing makes a lot more sense

Metabel @metabel.bsky.social · 10/08/2025

The lack of variation across different generations in beliefs actually leads to a more somber conclusion: education, age etc' don't seem to matter (or be used in intervention)

This is the closest to the correct answer afaict. In general there are a lot of reasons for how people get there, but they all stem from that alternative medicine can promise whatever it wants compared to the often unpleasant or scary research-backed treatments.

There's something strange about criticizing the idea of generations as informative variables, but coining a concept 'juvenoia' to describe the fear of them. Most "decadeology" seems to me to be nothing more than a playful behavior to criticize the vices of the prevailing human condition of the time

there is (to my knowledge) relatively unexplored symbiosis between russian disinformation campaigns and western academic output through the political channel, going far back in history. e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operati...
