Mesonet relative greenness maps for the weeks ending July 9 and Aug. 9, 2026. In July, much of central and eastern Oklahoma was lush and green, with relative greenness commonly 70–100%. By August, widespread orange and red had expanded across western and central Oklahoma, indicating vegetation had rapidly dried and browned, while greener conditions persisted mainly in the east. The comparison illustrates the dramatic drying of Oklahoma’s landscape in just one month.
