It's still before 10:00 on the Sunday after party night at #FOSDEM and the #EUPolicy room is on its second talk and very busy.

Today's digital #sovereignty data point, courtesy of #SWH2026. This chart shows who is hosting French research projects but I've no doubt it is representative of other sectors.

Belkin has decided to brick a bunch of smart devices their customers thought they owned.
Hi there,

We're sending a reminder that support for select Wemo products will
end on January 31, 2026. After this date, the Wemo app and cloud-
based features such as remote access and voice assistant integrations
will no longer be available.

We know many of you have relied on Wemo devices for years, and
we're truly sorry this may affect your setup. To help minimize
disruption, several Wemo products will still function locally through
Apple HomeKit.

Products that will continue to work through Apple HomeKit:
Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way (WLS0403, WLS0503)

Wemo Wi-Fi Smart Light Switch with Dimmer (WDS060)

Wemo Smart Light Switch (WLS040)

Wemo HomeKit Bridge (F7C064)

Wemo Dimmer Light Switch (F7C059)

Wemo Mini Plugin Switch (F7C063)

Wemo Outdoor Plug (WSP090)

Wemo Mini Smart Plug (WSP080)

Wemo Stage Smart Scene Controller (WSC010)

Wemo Smart Plug with Thread (WSP100)

Wemo Smart Video Doorbell (WDC010)

Ifyour products still under warranty on or after January 31, 2026, you
may be eligible for a partial refund.

We understand this is a letdown, especially if you've relied on Wemo
in your daily routine. Reliability and trust have always been central to
Belkin, and we recognize that this transition may not reflect the
experience you've come to expect from us. We are genuinely sorry for
the disruption.

With appreciation,

Belkin Customer Service

Parking on pavements is sociopathic. Parking in cycle lanes is sociopathic. Parking in front of traffic lights is sociopathic. Obstructing a bus route is sociopathic. So this Comax driver in #Southampton can be proud to be top of the high-score table.
White van marked "Comax", phone number 01202 684111, is parked fully across a pavement at a busy road junction leavinf only enough room for an able-bodied slim person to squeeze past, outer wheels parked on the road edge of a cycle lane, blocking sight of traffic lights.

As an example, the people who create the #ODF #standard have to crowdfund to get a professional editor to make the standard ready for publication, while national standards bodies like BSI charge nearly £1000 per copy for the published standard. None of that […] [Original post on meshed.cloud]
