The thing I explain to people when I do IRL advocacy work is that trans rights are almost entirely an issue of autonomy, bodily and otherwise. There is no way to remove trans people from the country without also removing other types of autonomy. Abortion, divorce, privacy: it's all the same war.

Muppet fans often speculate about what Jim Henson would or wouldn't approve of today. We can't say for sure what Henson, who died in 1990, would have thought of this stuff. But we can all agree: He definitely would have used Venmo on his iPhone 18 to collect all the Labubus on the Pop Mart app.

It's cliché to say this now, but it's striking how much happens in these episodes when viewed alongside a modern streaming sci-fi show like Silo, which we've also been watching. One X-Files has as much story as about five episodes of Silo. And I remember more of what happened when it's over!

My local movie theater is part of a regional, family-owned chain. They just changed the pre-movie "Welcome to our theater, please buy food, etc.," presentation for the first time since 2019. I'm thrilled to see that the family's acting is as stiff as ever.

Would it be feasible for one of the big cinema chains to advertise "Starting now, fewer previews and no commercials before the movie! No more than 3 trailers, then your movie starts!" It would be a good experiment, considering it's one of the top three complaints of people who avoid movie theaters.

A baby came to visit my house. She pulled these dividers out of my comic book shelves. (I wasn't mad. She's just a baby!) When she's old enough to read, I'm going to loan her a big stack of these comics and say "Here are the comics you asked for." It will be very funny. To me.

Gen a.i. images creeping into community theater productions. I kept getting distracted during musical numbers of a show because they were projecting crappy, muddy-looking a.i. backgrounds behind the cast. Shouldn't a theater (which used artists to paint other backdrops) use ARTISTS to draw those?

A few years back, a coworker told me his son was a writer and used ChatGPT to "create" the characters for his first novel. I said "Oh... but then it won't really be *his* book, will it? Wouldn't it be more satisfying if he did it all himself?" But he didn't get it.
