I went back for another look at the juv Pallid Harrier at Marshside, and I got better views as it passed several times, shearing in the strong south-easterlies, Juv Hen Harrier, 2 Marsh Harrier, 2 Short-eared Owls and a Glossy Ibis which came past quite close

Excellent views of the Baird's Sandpiper late morning off Meols prom, mostly feeding on it's own but was joined by a Juv Little Stint for comparison, also 3 Juv Curlew Sands and 6 Whimbrel flew past calling. #Waders @waderquest #Autumn #Northwestbirding

A day off work, so I headed for Martin Mere WWT, A cracking Wood Sand showed well on a decent bit of mud, most of the reserve like everywhere is mostly bone dry, a Green Sand was nearby with another 6 elsewhere, 15 Cattle Egrets, 2 GW Egrets a Red Kite and a juv Hobby.

Another 3 Roseate Terns today at Seaforth NR, making at least 6 this month, a Fem Garganey showed well outside the hide today, and almost became lunch to a LBB Gull, the LBB Gulls have been a big problem this year, taking all the Avocet Chicks, also Com Tern and BH Gull chicks

We headed over to Caernfon harbour next to the great castle, to see the 1st Western Reef Heron for the UK, a bird I've seen a lot abroad, like Oman, Thailand and Gambia, birds have been pushing into Europe for some time now, the bird showed well and seems quite settled

A few new arrivals the last 2 days, a moulting ad Curlew Sandpiper and a Black Tern arrived on Thursday after overnight thunderstorms, and today bang on cue a Roseate Tern settled down for a few hours mainly resting amongst the chaos that is a mixed common Tern and BH Gull colony

I was on the hunt to find a Temminck's Stint today, first I checked Lunt Meadows NR which has produced them a few times before, no luck there, so I tried Southport Marshside RSPB and found 2 fast a sleep to the right of Nel's hide, and an ads Spoonbill dropped in @waderquest #Northwestbirding

Another busy day with a lot of turnover on species, 82 today, 10 new from yesterday, but missing 12 from yesterday, so 96 from 2 days, 3 juv Spoonbills flew South, Spotted Flycatcher, Adw Grey Phalarope still, juv Black Tern and more passage Common Buzzards. #Lancsbirding #Seaforthnr

A great day on the reserve today @ SeaforthNR, the adw Grey Phalarope was still present and showed well at last, Juv Black Tern, Juv Little Stint, 5 juv Curlew Sands, Marsh Harrier and a Male Hen Harrier flew SW, a combined effort produced a new reserve day count of 89 Sp seen. #Lancsbirding

The strong winds did there stuff again, and the inevitable Grey Phalarope arrived at Crosby Marina boating lake, it showed very well late evening, a 1stw bird while on Seaforth NR, an Adult Grey Phalarope was found on the freshwater pool, excellent birds. #Lancsbirding

A good selection of Autumn birds today @ SeaforthNR with a steady trickle of 15 Grey Wagtail and 30 Swallows, 2 Yellow Wags, An Osprey flew over mid morning mobbed by a Peregrine, the adw Spotted Redshank was on the sw pool and a juv flew in during rain, as did 2 juv Arctic Tern. #Lancsbirding

The cracking juv Montagu's Harrier showed well this morning as it passed the old sand plant, RSPB Marshside a bit too far out and a heat haze spoiling the sharpness for pics, but a lovely bird, also merlin and Marsh Harrier. #Lancsbirding

Our resident Roseate Tern was joined by a second ringed Rosy, but this time I managed to read the ring code, 11 med Gulls, 1sts Little Gull still, Artic Tern and 5 Sandwich Terns, 58 newly arrived back Icelandic Black-tailed Godwits @ Seaforth NR

A nice drk Black Ruff arrived this morning and was showing well on the scrape @ Seaforth NR, also 1sts Little Gull, only the 2nd this year, the Roseate Tern was still present and is paired with a Common, the 2 2nds and ads Med Gulls were joined by the pr from Saturday #Lancsbirding

The Roseate Tern continues it's stay at Seaforth NR and showing well, we can only hope it brings a mate back and join the Common Terns on the island, ringed on Couquet Island in 2021 as a chick so it's 4yrs old and ready to breed. #Lancsbirding #UKBirding #Terns

Yesterday's Roseate Tern was present on and off all day, also the first Little Tern of the year, another Arctic Tern and an anxious few minutes when a kestrel snatched something from the scrape, fearing it was one of the Avocet chicks, but relief when all 3 appeared moments later #Lancsbirding

We've been bemoaning the lack of birds so far this spring, so it was a nice surprise to find a Temminck's Stint which appeared on the edge of the scrape near hide A, and eventually showed really well at Seaforth NR #Waders #UKBirding
