I highlight this here as a reminder to us all that our individual and collective agency are needed to concentrate power that counters/resists the power concentration ongoing in the global food system. Engage with alternative food networks. Join CSAs. Grow and share food from your own kitchen garden.

What was present in my own study on food systems, is that one pathway to leverage transformation is Food Sovereignty, that is, that the people choose their own priorities and practices for their food system. This is further presented all over the literature as a result and/or recommendation.

Sovereignty is at the root of all scales of transformation - individual, collective, systemic. What we see everywhere, however, is powering over via harmful power structures. This is so evident in the food system, and the stakes are rising. Image from the report: ipes-food.org/digital-agri...

Choose your leaders

To be led by a coward

To be led by a fool

To be led by a thief

Globally, #climate harms follow patterns. The elderly, the sick, marginalized communities, and the poor are consistently at greater risk. Vulnerability isn’t just exposure, it’s embedded in infrastructure, policy, and social support systems that fail to protect certain groups.
Diagram showing climate vulnerability as the interaction of three components: exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. Exposure includes the area affected by climate hazards, their severity, and frequency. Sensitivity includes household and community characteristics, housing quality, and access to services and utilities. Adaptive capacity includes mobilizable resources, information and skills, communication, and institutional and social capital. Together, these factors determine overall climate vulnerability.
