This is just breathtaking! I hope to one day be able to knit this. I've done a few brioche hats and cowls and about to start my first shawl.

Lol, is it AI slop or Scottish slang? In this case "pure dead brilliant" is slang. I'm watching this at the moment and half of my enjoyment is from the accents.

I've been spinning yarn using all kinds of amazingly cool embroidery threads, like metallics and holo. I got them in a big destash from an embroidery group and I know exactly why. They'd be hell to stitch with, in hand or machine. But... Sparkles!

Your shawl looks amazing! Don't mention mistakes, because no one else will see them. From the thumbnail it looks like a stump of an epic, ancient rainbow tree.

So no, I don't want to use AI to "save time" because I won't get extra time to be a human. I'll just end up doing other work, but feel crappier because AI will have corroded my brain.

We live in a capitalist productivity cult. When the spinning wheel was invented and people could turn fibre into clothes faster than ever before, you know what we did? We started wearing more clothes than ever before. (acoup.blog/2025/09/26/c...).

Ewww, "prompt engineering"? What an overly technical and inflated way of saying "writing". Like tech-bro Sandwich Artists.

This passage is going to live in my brain for a long, long time. From Gender Uphoria by Yvette Pike (eroticoffee.itch.io/gender-uphoria), talking about a trans character with autism.
A screenshot of an ebook which reads: Think about masking. Elijah is autistic, which I’m sure you know, but he’s been giving a set of rules by his parents about how to act like the allistic they wanted to have. After two decades of that, he’s now able to run a virtual machine of cis-allo normalcy, which is slower and less efficient than using his hardware like it should be used with the default operating system. But he’s been doing it so long, if the VM crashes, he’s thrust into an OS that he has no experience with, so he won’t be using it right and it will stress him out.

I almost always spin for joy. I let the fibre tell me what it wants to be, and if it's Default Yarn then cool cool. I end up with lots of random skeins. Which is kinda how I got into weaving.

I always let my bobbins rest, somewhere between 18 hours and 18 months. I don't tension my lazy kate and find unrested bobbins are more likely to snarl or twist with each other.

Beautiful spinning! I think that, as people, we will never be able to out-machine machines, but we can definitely out-people them. But I also like to spin for fine and even consistency... Except when I don't. 😛

I am willing to buy from Itch. Why are people hesitant? Is it the recent NSFW debacle? I pretty much only buy fundraiser/limited offer bundles on Itch. All other reading is going through my physical and digital TBR piles, physical and digital library books and online anthologies.

I'm an incredibly fussy reader and DNF about half the books I start. Life is short, time when I am free and coherent enough to read prose is devastatingly shorter. I just think of it as supporting my local library.

Another thing I blame for lack of engagement is the algorithms' push to show you new content. I often put my phone down and come back many hours later to comment on or share something, but the app resets and what I was contemplating is gone. Facebook especially does this, but so does Blusky.

Thank you for posting this, it resonated so strongly with me. I've joined your recommended Discords to give them a go. Yesterday I made a Dreamwidth account, because I long for the kinds of online relationships I had 15 years ago on LiveJournal. But I think Dreamwidth is a bit of a ghost town now.

I have been #spinning this giant, complicated spinning project for over a year and I'm down to less than 50g of #fibre left to spin. I am so. very. happy. to be almost finished. The fibre is Australian Tarndwarncoort Polwarth, both dyed fibre from Waratah Fibres and natural coloured from Tarndie.
A close up photo of a white plastic bobbin on a black electric spinning wheel. The bobbin is three quarters full of a very fine and evenly wound singles, mostly in shades of blue and chocolate brown, with a hint of hot pink.

I have started #knitting during face-to-screen training at work and not a single person walking past has commented on it. I feel like I've unlocked a cheat code or something.
A pair of half knit mittens in mauve, teal and brown striped yarn, still on needles with a messy trail of yarn leading to a ball. It's nestled between a computer keyboard, some pens, a notebook and a mug with the intimidating close up face of a cat.

You've got points to redeem. A billionaire bought an ocean. There's a wildfire. There's a mass shooting. This picture book is illegal. Public services are going going gone. Here's a dead child. Here's a dog eating fruit. Here's a person being thrown into an unmarked van. You've got points to redeem.

Sienna is annoyed by a lot of things, but especially feelings. She hopes gazing upon her visage helps.
A large, longhair brown tabby cat with a white chin. She's lying curled up on a sage green recliner and gazing up into the camera with eyes of almost the same colour. She's sitting in front of a window with rainbow light stickers, which are casting rays of rainbows across her body.

I'm pleased to have some of your books in my fathomless TBR list. I've been contemplating a Kobo too. I'll look into them when I exhaust my Kindle library... sometime in 2032.

I've often stared into her eyes. Never once seen a hint of a thought.
A very fluffy orange tabby cat, with white feet, checks and chest. She's starting straight into the camera with pale green eyes totally devoid of thought. She's stretched out on a faded black kitty sized chaise.

Yeah, AI is a hot mess, especially environmentally. But at least the storygraph one only generates a preview if you ask it to. Totally optional.
