I've been told similar stories & they're scary! About 2 years ago my dad was at the golf course when they were caught by a derecho. He & his buddies piled into his truck to outrun it, failed, & wound up in a field next to a road he's been driving for over 70 years. Said he couldn't see a thing.

My great-grandparents told me about what those times were like when I was a kid. Here in the TX Panhandle, where we live (past tense for them), they lost 7 children between them, the cattle suffocated from the dust, and they were eating tumbleweeds. They hated the Salvation Army, but loved FDR.

I'm so sorry.💔 Too many parents, including mine (for far too many years), refuse to recognize and acknowledge the harm they inflict. That's the real reason I never had kids. I was terrified I'd repeat behavior that was rampant on both sides of my family. :hugs: from 1 fellow traveler to another.

We're definitely living in the same timeline, my friend. My dad *still* tells stories about my defiance and resistance activities circa 1969 forward, in many cases before I could even talk. Relatedly, that's the reason I'm a dog mom rather than a human mom. I was 6 when I made that decision. 🤦‍♀️

Same. Even with my ex-husband, I refrained for the most part. I usually go for the petty when my criminal defense lawyer brain starts telling me "no way you can dispose of a dead body by yourself."
