i wish i could delegate all my programming to the machine god but the machine's capabilities are jagged and unfortunately lag behind in areas i consider critical

designing normal databases has probably been one of the more important things a cs degree taught me (in my case moreso gave me vocabulary and formal framework for what i already knew intuitively but still) if you don't intuitively get sql schemas i would highly recommend putting the effort in for it

it's wild how common it is for people to think "large systems just always have vulns" it is quite hard to make software with zero bugs, but it's not impossible most large systems just have lots of vulns because people do not care enough about systems they build to actually rigorously engineer them

maybe the reason llm benchmarks mostly suck and dont represent performance is just cause the average llm user cant stop themselves from making slop how hard can it be to just actually manually go through and audit your damn benchmark tasks before releasing it to the world

wish i could tell transit to always show me metro-only trips first even if they're slower. i *will* choose a slightly longer trip if it means avoiding stm buses

wtf is there not a single _un_opinionated js formatter. why is the whole industry just copying one other formatter's defaults

you can tell i vibecode this typescript because it looks like a slow descent into madness
const idArgs = () => {
    args._.filter(it => typeof it !== "number").forEach(it => console.error(`warn: ${it} is not a valid item id`));
    return args._.filter(it => typeof it === "number");
};
const requireDef = <T>(t: T, msg: string): NonNullable<T> => { if (t === undefined) throw new Error(msg); return t!; }
const requireArg = <T extends keyof typeof args>(arg: T) => requireDef(args[arg], `argument ${arg} is required`);
const J = (x: unknown) => console.log(JSON.stringify(x)); // TODO: --human
const cmds = {
    "prime": async () => {
        const parts: Record<string, string> = {
            itemTypes: itemTypes.join("|"), statuses: statuses.join("|"),
            linkArgs: linkTypes.map(([a,b]) => `--${a} <id> --${b} <id>`).join("  "),
            wqSrc: resolve(src, "wq"),
        };
        console.log(await Deno.readTextFile(resolve(src, "PRIMER.md"))
            .then(it => it.replaceAll(/\{([^\}]+)\}/g, (_,k) => parts[k])));
    },
    "show": () => J(idArgs().map(id => show(id) || console.error(`warn: item ${id} does not exist`)).filter(it => it)),
    "create": () => J(show(db.cItem(requireArg("type"), args.status || "open", requireArg("name"), requireArg("description"))!)),
    "update": () => pipe(pipe(issueFields.filter(k => args[k]), fields => pipe(E(`UPDATE item SET ${binds(fields)} WHERE id = ?`), stmt =>
        pipe(fields.map(k => args[k]), vals => pose<[number], RestBindParameters, void>(stmt, id => [...vals, id])))), doUpdate =>
            J(idArgs().map(id => { doUpdate(id); return show(id); }))),

oh shit maybe i shouldve been paying attention to the c# releases this has been a pain point for so damn long
The field keyword
The token field enables you to write a property accessor body without declaring an explicit backing field. The token field is replaced with a compiler synthesized backing field.

For example, previously, if you wanted to ensure that a string property couldn't be set to null, you had to declare a backing field and implement both accessors:

private string _msg;
public string Message
{
    get => _msg;
    set => _msg = value ?? throw new ArgumentNullException(nameof(value));
}

You can now simplify your code to:

public string Message
{
    get;
    set => field = value ?? throw new ArgumentNullException(nameof(value));
}

im glad i made tame just event emitters all the way down first and only other time i did that kinda thing was matrixbot-luvit i think? but i wish i had more opportunities to work on software where it makes sense, its such a nice extensibility primitive

hm i should figure out somewhere better than pastebin to put my userscripts and userstyles so people can get updates. ive already updated the commit linking script for myself but i dont wanna start posting a link in a thread every time i make a change.
