Disabling telemetry requires root on each boot. which takes quite a bit of time And then you still have the shitty slow OS that doesn't let you do anything and will have planned obselesence

Yeah, like when you put your finger on it. Each button has that

Update, controller test shows it registering fine and it might actually be the touch input causing it to appear broken in some games, touch is registered only in the center of the dpad instead of each individual side.

Cool, can you guys allow proton emails now? Including passmail?

You would think they would have fixed such a thing especially because devs have had devkits for a while now

Truth, frame is wayyy better I think I'm gonna have to RMA my frame though, dpad has issues and displays have issues
000
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Same! My left dpad button is soft and doing misinputs and my displays have vertical lines which apparently is an issue

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Hmmm yeah I see how that could cause issues...

Works fine for me? Kind of? (Just lots of freezing sometimes) AMD+AMD

I got one, also, the frame of the lenses literally touch my face which also hurts, the spacer helps a lot but makes the sweetspot of the lenses terrible

The bigscreen beyond is only really a good upgrade for people that already have base stations and controllers

Mine puts a lot of pressure on my nose, the light blocker specifically :(

I'm going to do two 10000mAh ones and keep one charged at all times. Can just keep swapping

Thank you, I don't use discord so

It does work though... Just not great, but steamvr on Linux is still marked as a development release

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
You really have to get used to them. Me and many other hated them at first too but they're good now

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Can I have it too? :p

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Cranking up the resolution to the max apparently helps a LOT while also making you gpu explode, it's basically what godlike on virtual desktop does. Haven't tried it myself though, I kept it on 200% for my few pcvr tests I've done (streaming on linux does not work very well)

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Which one?

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
There's a setting in SteamVR that makes it close after some time without a connection :)

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Straps touching ears suckssss, I have that too, by the way how tight did you set the straps? The headset feels kind of loose on my face and if I look down it'll just fall off my head :p

Steam frame owners! If you have previously ordered the WidmoVR prescription lenses, please read this: www.reddit.com/r/SteamFrame... I let them know about the problem and they are handling it quite well.

Same with a very dark gray image filling my vision, no obvious difference
100
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Checked in a different game, very dark areas in those too, but can't seem to find any difference, sometimes it does look like there is a very slight difference in brightness but its so minimal that I can't be sure, you think mine is fine?

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Setting it to stationary did seem to help quite a lot, very weird bug
000
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The spacer doesn't even help :(
000
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Flatscreen lethal company runs without tweaks standalone on the Steam Frame! Runs at about 20-30fps, pretty fun!

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Where do you see this the most? I'm trying to check if my unit has such a problem but I can't tell if there's a difference. Sometimes it seems like there is a very slight brightness difference and other times it looks the exact same.

Nice :p Please tell me what you think about it after you use it a bit!!

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Yeah its very cool, you can see through the controllers and front of the headset too The tracking in the dark sucks for me though, keeps losing the boundary position even though the IR illuminators are enabled :(

At least the software will be fixed when you get it..
010
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Yeah my connection is fine now for some reason too.. But it does also leave to passthrough like yours does for some reason, hope that gets fixed soon After using it a lot yesterday I'm starting to like the steam frame, just a looot of software issues right now..

How's screen door effect for you? Its very visible for me even without looking for it

Base package

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Let me know what your experience is when you have it, I'm interested :p

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Also, if your eye lashes are even slightly long, please put the glasses spacer in, even with it my lenses get smudges on them after blinking 3 times and they're very hard to clean 😅

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Through walls or floors was never going to work, 6GHz *needs* line of sight to work well, which means no obstructions
110
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
This entire headset is worse than I expected, especially in the software part. Comfort is also disappointing even when coming from a quest 2, and SDE is very visible in the displays.. I hope I'm just doing something wrong but I doubt it, I love and hate this headset so far
210
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Oh yeah, dongle performance sucks from my experience so far, I've only tried it for a short time once yesterday, but I was one meter away and the latency was high + just facing away caused a disconnect.. Linux issues I hope..

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Does the headset constantly put some pressure on your face too? I don't know what it's supposed to feel like, its either slightly painful or way too loose :p
000
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Agreed, also, did yours come with a big smudge on the lenses? Mine did and I can't get it all off
100
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Okay so, cable works but also doesn't. It gets stuck in a USB reconnect loop when on USB3. Can't recommend
110
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Its a great headset and you should avoid meta. It's just very hard to acquire right now.
010
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
TLDR: Valve, meta isn't watching you, very open and let's you do whatever you want, will take a very long time for you to get it, Linux, bad battery (as with all standalone vr headsets), great pcvr, and most comfortable headset out there.
110
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Once I try it and confirm it runs at USB3 speeds and stays at that, sure, it's quite short though.
000
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
I spent 3 hours searching for a good cable yesterday 😭
110
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
For USB3, the maximum length is 3m before signal integrity starts to drop, but even that is pushing it. Active extension cables could work, but are expensive and might add too much latency.
110
Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Yeah I got a short little extension cable to give the dongle line of sight, but it's still quite a bit away so I hope that works.. I don't want to rely on my home network with Multi-link as it drops out very often. I've heard the dongle even drops out if you face away from it though..

Meres @meres01.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
The entirety of SteamVR does, unfortunately...
