Activist Buddy Sault of Thunder Bay confronts Indian Affairs Minister Jean Chrétien after the White Paper was released in 1969. The 1969 White Paper, officially titled Statement of the Government of Canada on Indian Policy, was a proposal to eliminate Indian status, nullify all Treaties, and convert reservation land to private property. After considerable pushback, the proposal was abandoned in 1970.
