Went on a quick Ontario trip across the border with my BFF and I probably should have bought myself one of these little stuffed Timbit souvenirs.

“Hockey Timbits Plush” donut hole stuffed toys were on a store shelf at Tim Horton’s in Tecumseh, ON. They’re smiling brown globes wearing red helmets and they have little dangling feet with ice skates.

We saw this truck covered in anti-vaccine messages on the road on Friday, ironically we were taking a kid to see the doctor. We need good trustworthy public health figures to combat all the pathos around medicine, not to stoke more fear and suspicion.

The backside of a big black truck, driving on the highway, has messages against vaccinations: “Baby sis crippled by vax 1984,” “vaccine injured child on board,” “do not vaccinate,” vaccines cripple and kill.”

Once again I’m kicked out of a Facebook group called “I grew up in Michigan,” where the admin often post state-related content, then when posts get some traction they edit in a new image and text. It’s usually to sell AI quilts, but this one has a caption about a burger chain with a Trumpy image.

I wrote a comment criticizing the site and was immediately booted from the group. This screenshot shows that my comment doesn’t go through, would I like to “retry sending?” My other screenshot shows the mismatched text from the original post, which is about a 1980s burger chain, geared to engage nostalgic readers. After these posts have a few hundred likes or a good amount of comments, the poster changes the content but it’s only ever been “buy this quilt my son designed,” I’ve never seen maga content in the posts, only in the comments.

You can see how the post’s original text was tailored to be a nostalgia post about a burger chain, “Hot n Now Hamburgers in the 80s” but the (AI) image is of a contemporary snowy highway scene with a bunch of American flags and a billboard saying, “America is back, Jan 20th 2025.” How many sites and posts are these spammers juggling?
