ULP Violations Include: - Holding “town halls” in which the employer's labor relations counsel openly stated that the workers rights did not apply in the room - Refusal to provide information related to bargaining that the employer has an obligation to provide under law

This Day in Labor History: July 6, 1968. The first Chicago bus drivers’ wildcat strike of that summer ended, a key moment to discuss the relationship between Black Power, the workplace, and racial issues within union locals in the late 1960s!!!

...This is a great opportunity for a reset on leadership and employee relations at MW. Especially as we start to look at contract negotiations coming up in 2026. We look forward to working with Interim CEO Rebecca Campbell to resolve outstanding issues and lay the foundations for the future

MWWC's statement on today's layoffs. Full press release also in alt text.

Image of the following text:

This is a sad day for Meow Wolf workers and fans. We need to break this cycle. It’s time for company-wide change that focuses on the people who make Meow Wolf what it is.

We must return to our creative roots and focus on the people who make Meow Wolf what it is. We must remember that WE build worlds together. Meow Wolf is more than IP. It is the people who make these things. And it is the people who enjoy them.

We would like to acknowledge the executives who have been willing to work with the union to lower the number of unionized workers who were laid off. They see that Meow Wolf is its people as well as its products, and that the creative force of Meow Wolf does not reside in executives or one single individual’s supposed “vision.” We look forward to continuing to work together moving forward.

The legacy of Meow Wolf and its fans deserve better. This is a shout in the storm of unrestrained capitalist nonsense. We can do this a different way.

We sent a Petition of No Confidence in CEO Jose Tolosa to the Meow Wolf Board of Directors. This collective effort of union and non-union employees began on 11/24. We are now inviting fans and friends to sign and share the petition. Link below. actionnetwork.org/petitions/ncl-322?clear_id=true

Double 😯. It's the second layoff this year! The third under current leadership.

The Meow Wolf Workers Collective statement on the recent announcement of voluntary separations and layoffs.

On Monday, December 2nd, Meow Wolf held meetings where they announced an open invitation for any employee to agree to voluntarily leave the company. It was made clear in these meetings that following the volunteer separations, further layoffs will occur on December 12th.

Meow Wolf Workers Collective challenges leadership with the following:

1. Hold leadership (CEO, CSuite, etc.) accountable for the decisions made that got the company here by reducing the number of VPs and executive level positions at Meow Wolf.
2. Honor all aspects of all union contracts and normalize relations with the union, including swiftly recognizing new exhibitions and Creative Directors into the union.
3. Move away from the contractor-focused model that we currently rely on and prioritize the needs of full time employees, including utilizing employees’ institutional knowledge, promoting from within, and rolling out well-defined career ladders for all teams.
4. Prioritize guest safety in our exhibitions by increasing the number of staff on the floor. Several guests have been forced to call emergency services to get medical aid because, following a round of layoffs earlier this year, our exhibitions are now chronically understaffed, leaving our spaces unsafe and poorly maintained. Increase staffing and resources at exhibits now.

To the Board of Directors, we ask that you hold Jose Tolosa and other leadership accountable for the decisions that have put Meow Wolf in our current precarious position. The workers at the bottom should not be the tool to “fix” decisions at the top. It is especially despicable at this time of year. Meow Wolf deserves better and our guests deserve better.
