He's well-rounded and someone who can fit a 4th-6th slot in a rotation very well. This is about the limit of what I'd consider a neutral deal given his impact, age and iron-man availbaility. 131
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Normalizing cap hit % to discuss deals is going to be a long process but an important one. 172
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I mean, I did have him with my (untested) salary model at around ~$22M and he's only *really* crossing that by a considerable margin on a year that is a mutual option. He's starting the deal just below $2M above the cap hold. Yeah, I'm good. bsky.app/profile/keit... 100
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 10/10/2026He's not a floor raiser but he can always play. His impact will look better the better the team around him is but he's usually not taking anything away either. It's a long-term deal, with somewhat neutral value and he's locked in for potentially his entire prime. Works for me. 110
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 10/10/2026This contract also seems like the result of some faith he can still grow from where he's been the last couple of years. The news from camp have been encouraging. There's certainly a world where he stagnates and the deal becomes a heavy load. But this isn't a Zeke Nnaji contract. 100
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Do I wish his shot and agressiveness were more consistent? Sure. I also wish he had more ways to get his own shot when attacking the paint because he's almost exclusively looking for the pass, and if the defense knows that you aren't forcing them to collapse. 100
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I also don't want to ignore that he actually is adept at moving the ball and he's a very active screener for a guard: 100
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 10/10/2026He works well both on and off the ball, with solid results all around. Though he's always at his best when he acts quickly off a catch than as an initiaor. My first sign of how washed Bruce Brown looked last season was Brandin blowing by him twice in their October matchup. 100
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 10/10/2026This is starter money for someone who's probably not a needle-mover, but there is value in his versatility and easy fit with most lineups. Decent shooting, quickness of his decisions comes and goes, small but tries hard on defense and is elite at drawing charges... 100

Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I mean, I liked CP3 on the Spurs ahah. And LeBron will have more than that to offer, naturally. I just hope he stays healthy enough for a full-ish season. 000

Shead being small makes it hard for him to impact defense at all levels, but he has incredible hands and he seemingly teleports around the court. With a variety of deflections, charges drawn & passes stolen, you have a walking generator of feedback loops. 132
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 02/10/2026He's a very rare combo in terms of how he both suppresses your team's turnovers, while creating all sorts of troubles for the opposite guards. It gives him fantastic value as a backup point, even if his own scoring efficiency has always been awful (which is what caps his value). 020

Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Woke up to this. I was never really concerned but it's particularly nice I won't get clickbait for a year about "well, what if...? 👀". Also, it's a solid 20M discount and I am curious to see what the FO does with that. I'm sure there were specific intentions outlined. 011

Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 25/09/2026.... I have very real, potentially controversial, thoughts about a world where Doctor Who is not included (or a bunch of great animated shows that aren't R rated) but we have shows like Stranger Things. 000

Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Well, it's fair to say he has good hands to strip bigs trying to post him up and he'll get to any lazy passes you throw near him. But we are going very deep into it. I wouldn't call his defense "impactful". 010

Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Ok, at this point I already think this would be a clear overpay - and it's more than what he can get with a QO + 4y max with a new team. Detroit has no reason to go higher. Unless Duren is willing to take this amount but in a 2+1 or 3+1, this relationship seems truly finished. 010

Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 19/09/2026(...) you can't tell me there isn't a world where he develops a game similar to Dyson Daniles in this latest season. Being a wing screener, short roll passer, etc. Only reason they aren't exploring it yet is because they have another non-shooter with Duren who is doing all that. 010
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 19/09/2026I naturally understand the fears with his offensive limitations, but I thought he showed enough ability as a baseline cutter and crashing the boards that you can continue to develop that. Not every game is going to be easy, but (...) 100
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 19/09/2026And there's a solid chance I'm on the wrong side of history here, but I'd rather pay Thompson than Duren. Ausar's defense is much better than Jalen's offense (or defense), and if a team is to reach their highest upside, I believe you must bet on the highest upside skillset. 110

Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 18/09/2026So I hope this deal ends up paying off for Utah. The Jaren Jackson trade was in many ways a reflection of this FO believing they have in Keyonte their main initiator for the foreseeable future. And this deal is a good compromise between that promise and what he's shown already. 020

Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I do like that Keyonte, despite all his work in pick and roll, he also shows skills that fit in a system that requires him to play away from the ball. 110
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 18/09/2026(...) still inconsstent but he gained a lot of efficiency back by becoming a free-throw machine. And in the effort of building a full NBA squad around him, they made some smart choices, but the firepower available is still somewhat questionable. 🧵⬇️ 101
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Ceiling is probably capped by the offensive talent: A mix of the playmaking they've been lacking (not new) and the complementary shot-creation they lost. But, *if they're healthy*, this regular season is primed for beating the "over". Super curious to see what the offense is like in the end. 000
Martim 🏀 @mempire25.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I guess on a less positive note, I haven't been confident at all about Jovic's future with what he's shown the last couple of years. And we're really entering a "do or die" season with him. With the money he's making, he has to be a no-brainer top 8 guy in this rotation. 100
