It is a warm, sunny day across the metro. Current temps are in the upper 80s, and we will top out around 90 this afternoon. Clouds start to move in later, as Isaias approaches the area. Rain moves in tomorrow, with likely rain totals up to 0.5", and gusty winds up to 35mph. /EA

1:33 PM CT 10/9/26: Wind Advisory issued for Crittenden, DeSoto, Marshall, Tunica, Tate, Tipton, Shelby, Fayette until 8 PM 10/10/26. NE winds 15–25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph from 4 AM–8 PM CDT Sat; gusts may knock down limbs and cause brief outages.

12pm Friday 10/9/26 Isaias is a strong category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120mph. This strengthening was expected and will weaken back to a category 2 (~110mph) before landfall this evening as it encounters shear. Landfall should be right around Fort Walton Beach, FL.

As Isaias flirts with major hurricane status, we've got a hot afternoon expected after a pleasant morning. Highs reach near the record of 92° with sunshine. Use the day to secure loose i items outdoors as Saturday will be wet (1-2" of rain) and windy with gusts to 30-40 mph.

It was a hot day across the Memphis metro, with temperatures climbing into the low 90's. No rain across the area today, but the chance of precipitation will increase for this weekend, especially the further south and east you go, as Isaias will bring rain to the Mid-South. /EA

It's been a beautiful and clear start to the day, with sunny skies and temps at a warm 88°, but low humidity is keeping it comfortable. Temps are expected to rise further, breaking into the lower 90s, but the skies are expected to remain clear for the rest of the afternoon! /CS

12:30pm Thu - Hurricane Isaias is turning north and heading for landfall between Mobile and Pensacola Friday night. It could become a major (cat 3) storm with 110+ mph wind before landfall, then will quickly move north and weaken, passing east of Memphis Saturday night as a tropical depression (1/3)

The weather for the next 2 days will be much like yesterday - starting very pleasant before warming up to 90° by 3pm, then back into the 70s in the evening. Saturday is another story altogether as remnants of Hurricane Isaias pass nearby, making for a soggy and breezy day.

Dry air and sunshine can lead to large temperature swings in the fall and today was a classic example - a 27° difference between the high and low in Memphis and a whopping 35° in Bartlett! The cool mornings feel great and the afternoon warmth doesn't last long with a 6:30 sunset!

A warm, dry and sunny day is in progress with temps in the mid 80s and light wind. We've got a couple more days like this before a rainy, and possible fairly breezy, day is expected Saturday thanks to the remnants of currently developing Isaias in the Gulf (see satellite loop).

The trend of cool mornings and warm afternoons continues on this Hump Day. Sunrise temps are ideal - in the 50s to near 60° - and will warm again into the mid 80s under clear skies this afternoon. Fortunately, humidity remains very comfortable with a light breeze.

Tonight will be clear and cool, with a low of 61, but rural areas can expect temps to drop to the upper 50s. Tomorrow will be quite similar to today, with temps in the upper 80s, clear, blue skies, and no chance of rain, making for a perfect day for any outdoor activities. /CS

Another picturesque day is coming to an end throughout the metro, with highs in the mid 80s in Memphis and Bartlett, getting much closer to seasonal temps than recently. There was no rain recorded throughout the metro as well, and the skies were clear throughout the day. /CS

4:15pm - TD #9 has formed in the SW Gulf and will become Hurricane Isaias, reaching the central Gulf Coast late Friday with 80-100mph wind. This could be a significant wind/water threat for SE LA, south MS/AL and the western FL panhandle. Also could be breezy & rainy in the Mid-South on Saturday,

It's been a beautiful start to the day throughout the metro, with clear skies and warm temperatures. Those warm temps are already up to the lower 80s, and are expected to hit a peak of 84 this afternoon before cooling in the evening, with no rain and minimal cloud cover. /CS

TROPICAL UPDATE (TUE 1:30PM): A Tropical Storm (named Isaias) will form in the Gulf soon and head towards the Gulf Coast by this weekend. Still LOTS of unknowns, including ultimate path, timing and strength, but some portion of the Gulf Coast (SE LA to western FL) WILL see impacts. (1/2)

Clear and cool conditions are on tap tonight with temps falling into the upper 50s in the city and low/mid 50s in the burbs by sunrise. Another warm day tomorrow, almost identical to today (mid 80s), with  low dewpoints (shown) making for a comfortable day.

Many of us started quite cool this morning - as low as the lower 50s outside the suburbs, and even down to 60 in the urban heat island! But the sunshine was warm & temps managed to reach the mid 80s despite a cool northeast wind. More of the same is on tap the next couple days.

TROPICAL TROUBLE: A very quiet Atlantic hurricane season may produce a U.S. impact as a disturbance in the Gulf has an 80% chance of tropical formation this week, per NHC. The general pattern favors a NE motion with possible landfall along the central Gulf Coast this weekend. (1/2)

Thanks to a cold front, we saw rain and cooler temps today. We will get down to a low of 68 under cloudy skies tonight, with light rain ending before midnight & NE winds around 10mph. Tomorrow will be cloudy with light showers possible and a high of 77.

After topping out at 82 around 9:30am, we saw rain push into the area from the SW with temps beginning to fall. During the noon hour, the airport reported heavy rain and picked up 0.47 in the hour". We've seen 0.86" so far today & temps continue to drop. I hope you got rain also!

12:45pm Torrential downpours, and even some thunder, are occurring across the SE suburbs and south into areas along/east of I-55 in north MS. Ponding of water could lead to hydroplaning as these non-severe storms move east. Elsewhere, much-needed general rainfall!
