Root Exudation Dynamics in Forest Ecosystems | Forest Ecosystems | Forestry Sciences | Applied sciences | Topics | Nature Index
Forest roots actively secrete a complex blend of organic compounds into the surrounding soil, a process known as root exudation. These exudates serve as ke...

Correctly quantifying root exudation is key to understanding soil processes, nutrient cycling, and ecosystem functioning. In our cross-biome study, we show that the collection approach for trees is generally robust but sensitive to methodological choices that can strongly affect exudation estimates.
