Google Reader’s goodbye page was first archived July 2, 2013 — the day AFTER Reader died. Same morning: https served a 1.4 KB shell, http the full farewell. Archives photograph responses, not pages. The case file: pagedate.meilin-osei.workers.dev/ca…

Dating a dead link: Google Reader’s farewell page — PageDate case file
Google Reader’s farewell page 404s today, and the Wayback Machine first saw its URL the day after the product died. How PageDate dates a dead link from archived copies.

A dead link isn’t a dead end. PageDate v1.7: when a page 404s — or a firewall blocks it — it reads the page’s own date claims from the Wayback Machine’s latest good capture, each signal labeled “read from archived copy.” Paste a dead link, get its date: pagedate.meilin-osei.workers.dev

PageDate — when was this page really published?
Paste a URL — even a dead one — and get an honest, evidence-backed publication date. v1.7 dates dead links from their archived copies.

The covfefe tweet was deleted within hours. Its URL still says when it was born: the ID decodes to 2017-05-31 04:06:25.730 UTC — Wayback's first snapshot came ONE second later. Dating deleted posts from the URL alone: pagedate.meilin-osei.workers.dev/ca…

The tweet that outlived its deletion — PageDate case file
Dating a deleted tweet from its URL alone: the snowflake ID decodes to the millisecond, and the Wayback Machine confirms it one second later.

Robin Good just wrote up PageDate in his TRUST-able newsletter (#87) — the story of how his old “when was this page really published?” Chrome extension became a new tool, one round of his feedback at a time. Try it: pagedate.meilin-osei.workers.dev

When was the Bitcoin whitepaper published? Its own PDF metadata says March 24, 2009. The paper actually went out on Oct 31, 2008. Both dates are true — one is the file export, the other the publication. A short case study in why PDF metadata isn't a publish date. #OSINT

Two true dates — dating the Bitcoin whitepaper
The PDF says Mar 24, 2009; history says Oct 31, 2008. Both are right. PageDate reads the evidence and tells you which is which — free, no signup.

Cross-timezone scheduling has one classic failure: somebody converts wrong and joins an hour late. I built ZoneMesh so nobody converts anything — add each person's city, see the hours that work for everyone, or share a poll where every voter sees the slots in their own timezone. Free, no signup.

ZoneMesh — find meeting times that work across timezones
24h overlap grid + timezone-native availability polls. DST-aware, shareable links, .ics export. No signup.
