@maltelau Thanks. After your comment, I have tried it. No error. Since I didn't find any issue, didn't see anything relevant in the documentation, or in the git repo issues, out of desperation, I created a super minimal example (18 lines) and asked Perplexity […] [Original post on fosstodon.org]

I'm getting prepared for a language exam and I have a org-mode file with the phrases and sentences that I use for practice. After some minor changes, org-drill stopped working and it just shows the end of session buffer immediately upon execution. This is not […] [Original post on fosstodon.org]

I'm observing a weird behavior of org-mode python evaluation. Can anyone help me understand why I can only get the value out when I use `:session` for the source block while avoid using `print()` in Python? The attached screenshot has all 4 combinations, and […] [Original post on fosstodon.org]

For the first time ever, I'm now rooting for AI to take away job of certain people. Where I work has Office365 and the only 2FA they have enabled are SMS and Microsoft Authenticator. I have Yubikey, we all have passkeys, but no, these geniuses in IT are […] [Original post on fosstodon.org]
Screenshot of an email that contains my question from my institute's IT, and their response. the question is:

What are the OpenSource options? I don't use non-opensource tools on my personal phone.

Their answer is:

There are several Open Source options, but they can not be used because they do not support these features:

Then a table with emojies !!
Then:
Open-source apps do NOT support:

Microsoft push approvals (number matching)
- Azure AD passwordless login
- Enterprise device integration
- So in corporate environments (like Varha), you still need Microsoft Authenticator for work accounts.

A question for all #Guix folks on fedi: is there a way to make building the derivations faster? The machine I use has 20 cores, and only one of them is used 100% and the rest are usually around 7-8%. There are many things that needs updating on my machine […] [Original post on fosstodon.org]

> The model helps ensure that the University’s peer‑reviewed research articles are available open access via the University’s institutional repository.

> publication after 1 April 2026.

> The model covers manuscript versions of articles published in scientific journals, edited volumes and conference proceedings

> If the article is published behind a paywall: [...] The Library applies a Creative Commons (CC) licence to the deposited manuscript and makes it openly available immediately in the University of Turku's UTUPub repository. While talking to a colleague, I noticed they are not very well aware of the size of #Iran as a country. A quick online search landed us both on this nifty website that corrects for map projections and allows overlapping countries land mass. In this quick draft […] [Original post on fosstodon.org]

It seems my hypothesis yesterday was spot on! #Psiphon #Conduit connections dropped significantly during the past 2 days, from over 29 million daily connections from #Iran , to 4.6 million. This is 84% drop in just 2 days!
Screenshot of the Conduit statistics page which shows e line graph of daily conduit connections by region. The figure shows a drastic drop for connections from Iran, and a very small increase in Myanmar and Russia comparatively.

Thank you from 2025!

Even though there are still a few weeks left in the year, we already got a sneak peek at the numbers for 2025. Quite a number of departures and climate-friendly kilometers.

A big thank you to all of you who traveled with us!

On a weekday, there were approximately 24,275 departures in HSL traffic, of which 20,270 were made by bus, 2,250 by tram, 690 by commuter train, 610 by metro, 350 by express tram and 105 by ferry.

Throughout the year, there were approximately 6.5 million departures in bus traffic, 978,000 in tram traffic, 260,000 in commuter trains (A, E, L, U, Y, I, P, K trains) and approximately 195,300 in the metro.

Yet another reason why @kagihq is a better choice. During 11 months, I have only used 0.11 USD worth of AI in #kagi. This is great because: 1. Kagi transparently gives this statistics 2. genAI is not active by default unless you put "?" at the end of your query […] [Original post on fosstodon.org]

It shows that since January 16 2025 I have done 3830 searches on Kagi, and only 0.11 US Dollars of my subscription have been spent on generative AI.Screenshot of Kagi Assistant's model selection menu that shows a very brief explanation of the model, the relative cost, relative quality, relative speed, and relative privacy. Here by "relative" I mean these measurements are scored from 1 to 5 and specifics and exact numbers are not mentioned.

I wish this could work in R, so that we can have actual lambda instead of `\\()` when defining lambda functions. #RStats
Screenshot of R terminal. It assigns the "function" function to Greek letter small lambda. It didn't return error, but it is only because it is quoted in backticks. The next line defines a function using that lambda to get x as input and returns x+1. This threw the error "unexpected symbol".
