What is the world coming to, when Dolly Parton and Tim Curry die, but Donald Trump gets to stay alive? Have I actually died and gone to Purgatory? It seems as if those two have moved on and I'm still here being tortured by the great orange hellspawn...

I just folded Satoshi Kamiya's Ancient Dragon for the 1st time, using less than ideal paper. I wanted to familiarize myself with the model before using better paper. I couldn't do all the details and shaping with this paper but I'm still pleased with the result overall. #origami #dragon

Ancient Dragon, origami model designed by Satoshi Kamiya, folded by me using white flip chart paper. A little wrinkled but otherwise pretty good.

I'm on vacation, but at home, so today I decided to spoil myself. Satisfactory: watching Star Trek: The Next Generation and working on an origami project. Unsatisfactory: the undercooked pizza, the dry, hard cookie, and the "meh" chocolate milk. I'll have to do better tomorrow. I'll sure try!

Ever have one of those days when you're sitting in front of your computer at work, and your brain suddenly just kind of says, "No, I'm not doing any more of this today"? I guess I need a break, and then I can try to cajole my brain into working some more.

The other day someone suggested that if that night I had nothing important to do and all I was going to do was read a book because there wasn't anything else to do, I could do something else. I did the "something else", because my support was really needed, but... I beg to differ with his premise! 📚

I just found out that my car has damage from a rat that chewed on an important wire. Replacing it will cost an entire month of my wages (gross, not net). The car is less than two years old. And guess what? My car insurance won't cover it. I'm in shock.

Last Wednesday we had our local monthly #origami get-together. I taught my latest dragon and elephant designs, then we all folded a frog action model (the mouth opens and closes when you squeeze it) by a Japanese origami artist whose name escapes me right now.

I'm trying to come up with an origami elephant easy enough to teach to relative beginners. How does this one look? It isn't quite as easy as I'd like but maybe with the right folding sequence it would work. #origami #elephant

"Roble," a new #modular #origami #mandala I've been working on for a few days. To get this "checkerboard" result I alternated sides of the paper with each unit. Deciding whether to share step photos or wait to diagram it for my second book (for which I haven't really started diagramming yet)...

"Ninja Star" tessellation, which I came up with today. The photos show the basic pattern and the tessellated form, against the light and front lit (different sides). Someone may have come up with this already (I'm not well versed in existing patterns) but it's new to me. #origami #tessellation

Matthew Green @mehjg.bsky.social · 03/01/2026

I haven't made many tessellations but I improvised this one to start 2026. I'm sure someone has done it before, because it's pretty straightforward, but it was satisfying to create something "new"—at least for me—in a genre I haven't explored much. #origami #morigami #tessellation

I designed a new #origami dragon today. I want to create a really simple one but that's easier said than done. This is neither really complex not really simple, but I like the result. It really looks like a lizard with wings although not able to fly without magical assistance due to the proportions.

I wish I had enough free time to just sit down and listen to music sometimes—not as background music while I do something else (which I do every day); as the focus of my attention, so I can really pay attention to the lyrics, sing along, pay more attention to the melodies, the flow of the album...
