What made pre-modern artists great? The fact that they didn't have nonstop music to vibe out to while they painted and sculpted. They probably didn't feel like doing the work ALL the time, but pulled their druthers together enough times to get it done. Over and over and over. Mad respect.

Teaching my neighbor how our composting tumblers work & inviting her to contribute when she has scraps. This morning she rushed out to give me a bag of old lettuce, apologizing that it already started to brown and so shocked/relieved when I said that decomposing is what its all about. I love this.

It's taken 20 years as an artist but... I am finally caving to the fact that wearing a glove while drawing is indeed the best way to protect my paper from my skin oils. And that indeed is important. I resisted for so long. Gloves are weird to draw in. But also they are the best.
