I don't see what the big deal is with climate change. According to this chart, everything looks great!

Line chart of global average temperature, 1850 to 2023. The chart shows a massively worrying increase in global temperatures over that time, going up to 1.4 degrees Celsius.

Except I flipped it left to right, so it looks like the temperature is going down. But all the text is mirror imaged.

The Pioneer plaque depicts the naked form of a man and a woman, in case aliens discover it. I think that civilization urgently needs to create a Yuri pioneer plaque and get it sent out of the solar system faster than the original! #yuri

The pioneer plaque shows a schematic diagram of the probe itself, for scale. It shows line drawings of a naked man and woman. ... but what if it showed two women??

It also shows two circles with lines around them to suggest hydrogen atoms, and make you think of the time that it takes for hydrogen to do something or other sciencely. Then there's a bunch of lines of various lengths radiating from a single point, and each line is marked with some number of lines. The markings on each line can be compared with the time suggested by the hydrogen atoms, to determine a particular amount of time marked on each line. This diagram is meant to represent the directions and distances from Earth to the pulsars that have the periods marked by the time interval drawn on the line.

Also on the drawing: A non-scale drawing of the sun and each of the planets we think are cool, and the path that the pioneer probe took out of the solar system. The chance of an alien understanding this part of the diagram is 0%.

We were having some confusion, at work, about which things were on which branches, so I made this poster.

It's a poster advertising the 1938 movie "Reefer Madness", but I changed it to say "Repo Madness". On the top left, a young woman with a joint in her mouth dances with a green devil. There are captions there that say "Sin, Degradation, Vice, Insanity". On the top right, there's a scene from the film of a young man and woman smoking weed. It says "See youthful marijuana victims. What actually happens!" Except I changed it to "See youthful Source Control Victims. What actually happens!"

The center of the poster says "Repo Madness". "Madness" is written over a drawing of a smoldering joint.

On the bottom left, it said "Drug crazed abandon", but I changed it to "Work crazed abandon".

On the bottom right, a woman reclines with a joint in her mouth.

I just noticed that my lexapro has braille printed on the box. That's great. And, now that I think of it, why is it legal to print medicine boxes without this? It's so dangerous. How else are you supposed to know what's in there?

My Spanish teacher said that yesterday was some sort of Catholic holiday about the Three Magi. Apparently, in Mexico, what they do is they get a special sweet bread called "Roscón de Reyes". We went to the grocery store and got one. There's a little porcelain […] [Original post on a2mi.social]

Roscón de Reyes is a sweet bread baked into an oval (like, a torus) and topped with candied fruits like maybe figs, and maraschino cherries and some strips of green, yellow, and red. They were too candied for me to recognize the fruit that they originated as. Also, at some points along the bread, there's bits of some kind of frosting. The maraschino cherries top these frosted sections.

This bread is sitting on a plastic tray because we got it at the grocery store.

The porcelain baby Jesus figurine has a smiling face, a blue garment, and a cute little tuft of brown hair.

I'm starting to suspect this sidewalk is not really made of brick.

Photo of a sidewalk that, at first glance, appears to be made of brick. It is brown and there are lines in between squares of the sidewalk material. However, there is the impression of a dog's paw print, proving that this material was actually put in place while still wet and pliant, more like concrete.

I just saw this thingy. It passed through many hands before it got to me so I don't know where it came from, but I'm going to guess it was made by @welshpixie .

It says "Made this work of art today". It's a fast food napkin, and there's an empty packet of Arby's sauce there, because the sauce has been used to write the word "The" in a very fancy calligraphy style like an illuminated manuscript.

There is also a bug on the image that says "Meme Zar".

"FarmAnimals" is a store. I took this picture from the other side of the street, so there's cars photobombing the shot. The whole front of the store is open and you can see the rows of pill bottles and a counter with a person standing at it. The sign for the store says "FarmAnimals" and the sign is white. There's a blue heart with a white cutout that looks like the head of a dog. From the bottom of the heart, a line extends, to underline the word "FarmAnimals", and then the line starts going jaggedy to remind you of an EKG chart.

Underneath "FarmAnimals", it says "La farmacía de su mascotas".

A firefighter sprays water out of a firehose. You can only sort of see him because I had an awkward angle. Mostly, you see a red car that just happened to be parked there before the fire. Also, the firefighter is on the other side of the gate that closes off the abandoned lot.

Also in the photo: a civil defense worker kneeling in the road. Maybe he's filling another one of those water backpacks? I don't know, I was watching the guy with the hose.

That building that's on fire is a small abandoned building about the size of a news stand. It's in a gated-off empty lot full of trash. Flammable trash. A handful of pickup trucks showed up, including police, civil defense, and the fire department.

A white pickup truck, labeled as being from the civil defense department of the borough of Miguel Hidalgo, has parked on the street in front of the fire. A worker is filling a backpack-and-sprayer assembly from a 5 gallon jug. Not sure they're fully equipped for this.
