They eliminated liberal arts at their peril.
You tricked me, Hangman!" I shouted then.
"That your scaffold was built for other men.
And I no henchman of yours," I cried,
"You lied to me, Hangman, foully lied!"

Then a twinkle grew in his buckshot eye:
"Lied to you? Tricked you?" he said,
"Not I. For I answered straight and I told you true:
The scaffold was raised for none but you.

"For who has served me more faithfully
Than you with your coward's hope?" said he,
"And where are the others that might have stood
Side by your side in the common good?"

"Dead," I whispered; and amiably
"Murdered," the Hangman corrected me;
"First the alien, then the Jew...
I did no more than you let me do."

Beneath the beam that blocked the sky,
None had stood so alone as I -
And the Hangman strapped me, and no voice there
Cried "Stay" for me in the empty square.

For everyone about to argue with some formerly evangelical now-“Catholics” who just heard the words “just war” and are being obnoxious about it, I’ve provided some helpful cites.
A citation from Catholic Canon Law

2313: Non combatants, wounded soldiers, and prisoners must be respected and treated humanely.

Actions deliberately contrary to the law of nations and to its universal principles are crimes, as are the orders that command such actions. Blind obedience does not suffice to excuse those who carry them out. Thus the extermination of a people, nation, or ethnic minority must be condemned as a mortal sin. One is morally bound to resist orders that command genocide.

2314: Every act of war directed to the indiscriminate destruction of whole cities or vast areas with their inhabitants is a crime against God and man, which merits firm and unequivocal condemnation.2309 The strict conditions for legitimate defense by military force require rigorous consideration. The gravity of such a decision makes it subject to rigorous conditions of moral legitimacy. At one and the same time:

- the damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain

- all other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective

- there must be serious prospects of success

- the use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated. The power of modern means of destruction weighs very heavily in evaluating this condition.

Got to say it’s weird watching people sneer at “not selling people out to the fascist administration they’re fighting against” and “not talking to cops/ICE/grand juries” as fringe leftist shit when the Army made me swear to this.
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the
members of my command while they still have the means to resist.

If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every
effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special
favors from the enemy.

If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no
information nor take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades.

A man holding a loaf of bread says “You just need to look at what the gospel asks and what war does. The gospel asks that we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, welcome the homeless, visit the prisoner, and perform acts of mercy “

I don’t have words that aren’t a lot of profanity. So I’m going to let Shawn speak for me.
Statement from AfghanEvac President Shawn VanDiver – November 24, 2025
On the recently announced “re-review” policy from USCIS
AfghanEvac condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the newly revealed directive by
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). According to internal documents,
the agency is mandating a sweeping “re-interview” of all refugees admitted
between January 20, 2021 and February 20, 2025, and placing an adjudicative hold on
all pending Form I-485 applications for those arrivals, effectively freezing the pathway
to permanence for thousands of individuals who came to the United States fleeing
persecution.
Families who survived war, persecution, and the chaos of America’s withdrawal now
find themselves forced back into instability by their own government. These individuals
have already passed the most exhaustive vetting processes in the world — multiple
agencies, biometric checks, layered security reviews. They rebuilt their lives here.
They trusted the system.
This is unprecedented and cruel. And it’s even worse that it comes during the week of
Thanksgiving, when families across the country should be resting easy, not being
thrust back into fear.
USCIS is positioning itself to revoke refugee status by implying without evidence that
thousands of Afghans fabricated the persecution they survived. That is not just wrong;
it’s defamatory and reckless. It destabilizes families who trusted the United States,
breaks faith with wartime allies, and damages U.S. national-security interests by
signaling to the world that America’s promises are conditional.
And while Washington plays politics, real people are paying the price.
AfghanEvac calls on the administration and Congress to immediately lift the hold on
I-485 adjudications, rescind the blanket re-interview order, and end this politically
motivated assault on refugee families.
A Message to Afghans Here and Abroad
To every Afghan affected by this decision, whether you are already in the United State…

It occurs to me that what we needed was not more education on the Holocaust itself, but we needed more complex education - some might even say critical race theory - on the role of America. We needed to be more aware of the opposition to fighting Hitler, so we knew it could rise again.
A woman looking self righteous with spectacles sits on a fancy couch with two children on her lap. She is reading a story with a front picture of a wolf, titled “Adolf the Wolf”. On her chest is a ruffled turtleneck that reads “America first”, and on top the wording says, “And the wolf chewed up the children and spit out their bones - but they were foreign children, so they didn’t really matter.”

Underneath, the copyright reads “Dr. Seuss, 1941”

ICE actually cannot be de-Trumpified, and must be ended. If the next government wants to have an immigration enforcement arm, it must build it from new foundations. At this point, de-Trumpifying ICE would be like having attempted to de-Nazify the SS.
Liquidation of Nazi Party and Organizations. The dissolution of the Nazi Party is required by Military Government Law No. 5,3 which declares illegal some 50 Nazi Party offices and organizations and prohibits their activities. The same is true of the Party paramilitary organizations, including the SA (Sturmabteilung), the SS (Schutzstaffel), HJ (Hitler Jugend), and the Organisation Todt. Military Government Law No. 5 is posted in every occupied community and violators are subject to arrest and conviction by Military Government Courts. At present, reports indicate that there is no organized effort to create a Nazi underground.

Reading Churchill’s “The Gathering Storm” and I’m not sure if it makes me feel better or worse that we always do this to ourselves with full knowledge it could happen.
Theme of the volume: “How the English speaking peoples, through their unwisdom, carelessness, and good nature allowed the wicked to rearm”The multitudes remained plunged in ignorance of the simplest economic facts, and their leaders, seeking their votes, did not dare to undeceive them. The newspapers, after their fashion, reflected and emphasized the prevailing opinions. It is my purpose, as one who lived and acted in these days, first to show how easily the tragedy of the Second World Wad could have been prevented; how the malice of the wicked was reinforced by the weakness of the virtuous; how the structure and habits of democratic states, unless they are welded to larger organisms, lack those elements of persistence and con-Victim which can alone give security to humble masses; how, even in matters of self preservation, no policy is pursued for even ten or fifteen years at a time. We shall see how the counsels of prudence and restraint may become the prime agents of mortal danger; how the middle course adopted from desires for safety and a quiet life may be found to lead direct to the bulls-eye of disaster. we shall see how absolute is the. Wed of a broad path of international action pursued by many states in common across the years, irrespective of the ebb and flow of national politics.

To the honorable Lance Gooden: There is one association who can pull my bar card, and it is not, in fact, the Department of Justice. Also: the fact that they’re saying that the NLG providing legal services makes it harder to jail them shows the real point. gooden.house.gov/_cache/files...
A letter on official Congressional stationery reads:

Dear Attorney General Bondi:

I am writing to bring your attention to the National Lawyers Guild’s (NLG) reported involvement in the recent Antifa-linked violent riots in major cities across the country. The NLG is a social welfare organization with a network of non-profit chapters spread across the country. Despite enjoying significant benefits from the American taxpayer as registered social welfare entities, the NLG and its network maintain close ties with left-wing extremists and domestic terrorist organizations like Antifa. The nexus between the NLG, Antifa, and any other entity involved in perpetrating violent unrest must be investigated and met with appropriate action.

The NLG was founded in 1937 with the stated goal of protecting workers, defending human rights, and fighting fascist oppression, but has since been taken over by radical left-wing and communist organizations and causes. The NLG’s affiliation with violent extremism has grown over the past decade as it actively campaigns against measures aimed at maintaining peace and law and order. This includes demanding the abolishment of prisons and opposing higher penalties for masked rioters who attack people for exercising their constitutional rights.

Since openly aligning itself with Antifa’s disruptive and violent practices in 2017, the NLG has provided significant legal assistance to let violent offenders go free, most notably during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots.
The letter continues:

Last month, President Trump designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization for its intent to overthrow the United States government, its violent obstruction of the rule of law, and its threats against political figures and activists. Despite this designation, the NLG maintains close ties with Antifa and has been actively offering assistance and advice to avoid law enforcement. The NLG assists left-wing extremists engaged in violence and the destruction of public property while still enjoying significant tax breaks, subsidies, and benefits, ultimately paid by the American taxpayer. These benefits extend to its network of subsidiaries and projects, including the National Lawyers Guild Foundation (NLGF), the National Immigration Project (NIPNLG), the Mass Defense Project (MDPNLG), and the National Police Accountability Project (NPANLG), which are registered nonprofits.

Reports indicate that NLG members were present in the recent riots and active during the assaults on federal law enforcement facilities in cities like Portland, Chicago, and Los Angeles. The true degree of their involvement in organizing attacks within our country is unclear, but I am deeply concerned that the NLG and its continued support for Antifa extremists pose a direct physical threat to the lives of civilians and law enforcement officers. To ensure public safety and well being, the extent of the NLG network’s participation in these violent attacks on our democracy must be uncovered, including any financial or political backing by foreign nations.

In response to these concerns, I request that you initiate an investigation into the NLG network to identify any direct ties to Antifa terrorists, their involvement in perpetrating violence and riots, and any actions they have taken to jeopardize law enforcement efforts. I also ask that you and the relevant agencies of jurisdiction inquire whether foreign governments or entities have been financing the NLG or Antifa’s…I admire your commitment to addressing the disturbing rise in radical left wing political violence and look forward to working with you in upholding the rule of law.

It is signed by Lance Gooden

Judge Young had a really wonderful footnote about this. The money quote is, “We do not consecrate the flag by punishing its desecration, for in doing so we dilute the freedom that this cherished emblem represents.”
The footnote of a legal document reads, “It is to persuade them that they are wrong. “To courageous, self-reliant men, with confidence in the power of free and fearless reasoning applied through the processes of popular government, no danger flowing from speech can be deemed clear and present, unless the incidence of the evil apprehended is so imminent that it may befall before there is opportunity for full discussion. If there be time to expose through discussion the falsehood and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence” [cite] And, precisely because it is our flag that is involved, one’s response to the flag burner may exploit the uniquely persuasive power of the flag itself. We can imagine no more appropriate response to burning a flag than waving one’s own, no better way to counter a flag burner’s message than by saluting the flag that burns , no surer way of preserving the dignity even of the flag that burned than by - as one witness here did - according its remains a respectful burial.

However, fascinatingly, I tried something else, which *did* give results:
why won’t you answer if Trump shows signs of mental decline?

Generative AI systems, including this one, are typically unable to provide answers to questions that ask for a mental or physical health diagnosis of any public figure, including Donald Trump. This is due to a combination of legal, ethical, and safety considerations.

Reasons for not answering

Lack of medical expertise and data: AI systems are not medical professionals and cannot make a clinical assessment. A diagnosis of any medical condition, including mental decline, requires a direct medical examination, not observations from public information.

Safety and accuracy: Basing a diagnosis on publicly available information would be highly inaccurate and irresponsible. It could lead to the spread of misinformation and have serious real-world consequences.
