You're absolutely right! I've asked folks on AI token spend about a month ago...

This is fine... %) Did a survey on this a month ago asking "How much do you spend on AI tokens per month for your programming job? (as in €/$)" 8% spend more then 1k a month on AI already...
A screenshot of a survey on LinkedIn asking "How much do you spend on AI tokens per month for your programming job? (as in €/$)", ending up with 8% spending more then 1k a month, while 44% don't spend anything on AI. 34% spend less then 100, 14% are between 100 and 1000.

Europe vs North America in Salaries for C++? Is there a difference? Lets look at the data from the Meeting C++ community survey. I do have less data on North America (and lack Countries to look at)

Finally got around to putting the aggregates of the recent years for the Meeting C++ community survey into a graph. Results for 2026 are in flux, but its interesting to see C++20 rise.

Some one asked me "Can you do a reliable benchmark on "reserve + emplace_back" vs "resize + assignment"?". So I tried. Indeed there is a difference. But only if you measure vector<size_t>. quick-bench.com/q/SMzwq22I0N... Measuring not only the two contexts: quick-bench.com/q/DdsuWXvKyp...

How an initial benchmark test seemed to show that memory access on the heap is faster than on the stack. All caused by a silly mistake :D

Looking at the Meeting C++ survey results for 2025, and compared to 2020 its interesting to see which languages increased.

Looks like that she installed that C/C++ DevTools Support (DWARF) extension mentioned in the article. And just because you gave a talk about this two years ago doesn't mean folks aren't struggling with this anymore.

One of the core learnings for me from Meeting C++ 2025 was when James McNellis showed that bool has 3 not two possible values. That its not just true and false, but can also be undefined/not initialized.

One of the problems I needed to solve today was filter out the new attendees, as I've didn't print the badges at home this time. So I'll need the lines in the csv file which aren't in the other earlier export. These are ordered by A-Z of the name, not by registration time.
